The Pathway Assistant role is an exciting opportunity to join our administration team which first-class administration and reception services to the Division. As part of our Patient Pathway team, you will be responsible for tracking patients through their outpatient care pathways, representing the department on our GI Physiology reception desk, and processing clinical as well as patient correspondence in a timely manner.

The role of Pathway Assistant is an integral part of the multidisciplinary team working in both clinical and non-clinical settings. The post holder is required to welcome patients and visitors into the department, answer any queries and provide reassurance when needed. The Receptionist supports clinical colleagues in ensuring that the department runs smoothly and efficiently, dealing with complex operational issues that arise. The post holder will be required to work closely with other members of the administrative team and clinical teams, including managers, administrators, nursing and medical staff, allied health professionals and support workers.

The Division of GI Services includes the medical and surgical specialties of Hepatopancreatic biliary (HPB), Colorectal, Upper GI cancer, Obesity, Nutrition and Vascular services. The Division is responsible for a 50 bedded ward, Endoscopy Unit and a GI Physiology Unit. We see around 700 patients in outpatient clinics and perform around 300 inpatient procedures per week. Our administration team are vital to the smooth running of these services.
