The Parliamentary Intelligence, Insight and Engagement Team sits within the Private Office, Intelligence and Parliamentary division. It supports ministers and officials in understanding the Parliamentary landscape and navigating the Parliamentary risks and opportunities associated with delivery of the Department’s priorities.

This is a friendly and supportive team that works closely with ministerial offices, special advisers, policy teams and Parliament.

**Job description**:
This is an exciting opportunity to work in DHSC’s Parliamentary Intelligence, Insight and Engagement Team to play a key role in delivering high quality parliamentary intelligence, insight and strategic advice to support the work of Ministers and officials across the Department. The team is part of the Parliamentary Affairs and Intelligence unit (PAIT) and sits within the wider Parliamentary Intelligence and Private Office division (PIP).

The Department has some of the highest amounts of parliamentary business across Whitehall. Parliamentary scrutiny, in all its forms, is incredibly important. Ministers are accountable to Parliament for the policies, decisions and actions of their Departments and it is therefore vital that we understand parliamentarians’ views and concerns and engage with them effectively.

The Parliamentary Affairs and Intelligence Team was established in 2019 to deliver enhanced parliamentary support and to work with Parliament in new ways to drive, shape and communicate DHSC policy.

**Person specification**:
The key accountabilities of the Parliamentary Intelligence, Insight and Engagement side of the team are set out below, and you will have a role in leading and supporting across all these areas of work (alongside your HEO colleagues):

- To gather, interpret and present parliamentary and external intelligence about the interests and priorities of parliamentarians at a local and national level
- To provide the Secretary of State, Ministers and officials with tailored intelligence and insight briefings on local and national issues that are of interest to or concerning parliamentarians (within the Department’s remit) and make recommendations for action where appropriate
- To use technology to present intelligence and insights clearly and creatively, and continue to develop and improve this area of the team’s work
- To recognise the importance of MPs as stakeholders and work in partnership with officials to steer the Department’s policies successfully through Parliament, and support policy development through strategic engagement
- To provide briefing for the Prime Minister’s Office for PMQs, visits and for other matters relating to parliamentarians (within the remit of the Department)
- To work closely with the Parliamentary Affairs side of the function as one team to share information on a day-to-day basis, collaborate on projects, and provide a joined-up service to Ministers and officials
- To work in partnership with private offices and policy officials to ensure that the needs of their policy areas and portfolios are met and prioritised, as appropriate
