Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner
We are offering an exciting opportunity to join the Gastroenterology team at King’s Mill Hospital. It is a large department encompassing advanced nutrition, liver disease, luminal gastrointestinal disease and endoscopic procedures, alongside cancer services. We have a busy inpatient ward and see a wide range of elective outpatient cases as well as delivering procedures such as gastroscopy, colonoscopy, ERCP, manometry and capsule tests.
Ultimately, we would see the role as being partly based on the Gastroenterology ward supporting the team in caring for inpatients, as well as supporting acute referrals from other teams. This would include being trained to independently do a variety of procedures such as ascitic taps, ascitic drains and nasogastric tubes. In addition to supporting the wards, we would be keen for the practitioner to be involved in elective clinical pathways. This could include managing protocol driven clinical outpatient pathways such as anaemia and coeliac disease, through to vetting of surveillance pathway referrals. There are opportunities to be involved in research, teaching and training and quality improvement as part of the role and we would strongly encourage that. The ability to be self-directed, flexible and proactive in moving projects on is essential.
As a valued employee you will be support by a Consultant supervisor, the Corporate Lead for Advanced Clinical Practice and the wider established Trust ACP team, where we having a growing number of ACPs across a number of different specialities. Opportunity for professional development is encouraged to allow individuals to excel in all pillars of advanced practice and is facilitated through protected non-clinical time. You are encouraged to attend our Trust monthly ACP teaching and quarterly ACP and NMP forums to support your ongoing professional development.
Thank you for your interest in this role.
