Trainee Clinical Coder

In this role you will be working as part of a team of dedicated, clinical coders who convert clinical information from patients’ medical records to classification codes, using the ICD10 and OPCS4 classifications. The post is full time, 37.5 hours.
You will need to be a team player with the ability to work accurately, plan & manage your own workload, you will possess excellent interpersonal & organisational skills, demonstrate the drive & focus to work within tight deadlines to provide a high quality service.

We are on an exciting journey, guided by our Digital Strategy (link). We have already digitised many elements of the patient journey. In Coding we have implemented Medicode 360. Join us as we enable coding from digital sources, and hybrid working.
Please note if you have completed the clinical coding standards course then depending on your level of experience there would be an opportunity to discuss with us the possibility of joining the team as a Band 4 Experienced Clinical Coder.
The post holder will abstract and analyse clinical information from case notes and relevant documents, translate into diagnostic and operative procedure codes using the current classifications, adhere to the national standards and conventions, inputting the data onto the Trust’s patient information system to meet the Trusts financial and statistical data commitments. The post holder will complete the Clinical Coding Standards training programme and study for the Accredited Clinical Coder Qualification.
