Labour Ward co-ordinator - 9 months fixed term
Post holders will have significant experience as a Registered Midwife in a wide range of settings. As a Labour Ward Co-ordinator you will be professionally accountable for providing clinical, operational and managerial leadership and co-ordination with a positive approach. You will need to be resilient, and have experience managing complex situations.
Providing support and working alongside the Labour Ward manager is essential to ensure safety and quality is optimised; Patient experience is a priority.
Our labour ward has recently renovation and improvement works including Enhanced Maternity Care suites, two obstetric theatres with 4 recovery rooms, a waiting room for planned operative births and the 1st of our updated birth rooms is now in use.
The labour ward has 12 birth rooms and a dedicated bereavement suite ; one of these rooms has a birth pool.
We operate a 24 hour Maternity Assessment Centre and Antenatal Day Unit provision until 8pm. We are proud to have an alongside midwife led birth centre, and have a dedicated induction suite. Our alongside Birth Centre has 7 birth rooms, 2 of which are pool rooms.
The post holder will have continuous responsibility for all aspects of safe intra-partum care provision, with the support of a multi-professional team to ensure optimum safety and quality of care at all times.
The post holder must be confident in all aspects of clinical care within both low and high risk intra-partum care contexts, having and using expertise to support, advise and advocate for women and midwives.
To work as a key member of a multi-professional team and display excellent communication, facilitation and leadership skills. Being able to innovate, inspire and motivate the team towards excellence. To be a shift and unit manager our of hours and participate in the senior on call rota.
To provide care, support and advice to women and their families in accordance with The Code (NMC, 2018)
