**About the role**

Reporting to the Group Finance Director the role will be managing the Payments Operations Manager, Senior Payments Manager and the Payments Investigations Manager. Our newly created role to head up Payments Operations will be responsible for overseeing and optimising all processes and activities covering transaction processing, lifecycle events, payment processing, reconciliation, and settlement, ensuring smooth and secure movement of funds.

**Key responsibilities**:
In the role of Head of Payments Operations, you will be responsible for:

- Managing a team of 10-12 payments and reconciliation specialists including 2-3 direct reports
- Ensuring all payments are completed in line with currency cut off times and end-of-day checklist is adhered to
- Building and leading a high-performing team providing guidance, training, and mentorship to ensure operational excellence
- Supporting the implementation of the new Treasury Management System developed in-house
- Acting as a senior leader within the business providing knowledge and advice on payments and banking as part of our global expansion. You will be expected to attend Group Ops meetings to provide a status report to other stakeholders
- Overseeing and optimizing payment processing, reconciliation, and reporting, ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Maintaining relationships with our banking partners and correspondent banks
- Working with our external and internal IT stakeholders on technology improvements and systems upgrades
- Liaising directly with the compliance, sales and dealing teams to ensure a smooth payments experience for clients
- Working closely with the Group Finance Director, to ensure efficient operations between front and back-office functions in relation to payment operations
- Periodic reporting of payment operational processes to the line manager
- Improving payments systems and processes to make efficiency gains
- Being a supportive manager to the team, overseeing payment investigations and resolution to settlement queries.

**This role is on-site in Central London with no flexibility of working remotely.**

**Essential experience & skills**:
We want to set you up for success and we believe these experiences and skills will help you thrive in this role:

- ** 7-10 years proven experience of leading and managing a payments operations team including at least 3-5 years in a medium or large organization**:

- Be articulate, detail orientated and confident to display a clear level of intelligence when liaising with various stakeholders within the business and have an ability to perform consistently in a role that is vital to the day to day running of the business
- You should have **a detailed knowledge of the Swift payments network **and its operation processes and have experience of banking relationships
- Experience with rolling out new products, improving processes and managing projects is also essential
- **Excellent understanding and knowledge of the PSD2 and CASS regime**, including reconciliations, safeguarding etc.
