London, United Kingdom University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Full time

As a Specialist Clinical Coder, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the management of coding operations as well as the team through training, mentorship, and audit works. This is a multi-facet role and one that provides an exciting step into management through a supportive framework, engaging with a great coding team as well as key clinical division contacts across various services.

The coding team have an established track record for delivering coding quality within an infrastructure that provides for inclusion, joined up working and a collaborative approach, marking an ideal opportunity for someone looking to support this success and make a difference. Please note that there is an additional 10% of salary paid for possession of the National Clinical Coding Qualification in addition to the 20% inner London HCAS.

The Specialist Clinical Coder will be responsible for co-ordinating workload and resource across the team supported by the Coding Team Manager, ensuring that performance and high-quality coding standards are harnessed. This includes managing data flows, sickness, leave requests, 1-1 reviews as well as carrying out audit and work
- checks that are fed back as part of the learning and development infrastructure.

Ongoing engagement with clinical divisions is key to ensuring symmetry between clinician and coder and enhancing the understanding amongst clinical teams, in regard to the information required by coding, its use and purpose and the pivotal role that they play within the process. Therefore, this role will include fostering good working relationships with clinical leads, attending clinical forums where required and providing an effective interface between clinical teams and the service.
