To provide professional support, and advise managers in the development, adoption, implementation and maintenance of appropriate occupation health and safety arrangements and environmental management, in accordance with legislative requirements, and with the policies and strategies that are determined by the Trust. The post holder will assist the Trust Health and Safety Manager in implementing HSG 65 within a large multi occupancy organisation.
As a Health and Safety Advisor you will engage with all aspects of the Trust to support the embedding of a postive health and safety culture. This will be achieved by engaging on a daily basis with various stakeholders across the Trust. The post holder will through auditing, inspections, attendance of meetings offer assurances that the Trust meets all of its statutory legal complaince with the Estates and Facility and other areas within the wider Trust.

The postholder will be expected to undertake a programme of continuous professional development maintaining and updating his / her specialist knowledge in the field of occupational health & safety in order that he / she is in a position to offer a high quality professional service. The postholder will be expected to undertake further courses and qualifications as identified by the senior health and safety manager. These courses and additional learning will be undertaken during a period of time and will form part of a devlopment plan.

Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust was created on 1 October 2019 following the merger of two adult acute Trusts, Aintree University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust.

The merger provides an opportunity to reconfigure services in a way that provides the best healthcare services to the city and improves the quality of care and health outcomes that patients experience.

The Trust runs Aintree University Hospital, Broadgreen Hospital, Liverpool University Dental Hospital and the Royal Liverpool University Hospital.

It serves a core population of around 630,000 people across Merseyside as well as providing a range of highly specialist services to a catchment area of more than two million people in the North West region and beyond.

In conjunction with the health and safety manager develop and review, propose and implement policies and protocols, which have a Trustwide implication.
The postholder will be expected to undertake a programme of continuous professional development maintaining and updating his / her specialist knowledge in the field of occupational health & safety in order that he / she is in a position to offer a high quality professional service.
The postholder will, in consultation with Health and Safety Manager, produce health and safety development plans and support managers in the implementation of such plans. He / she will monitor progress made and carry out any adjustments and modifications of the plans as an ongoing fundamental part of the post.
The post holder will, in conjunction with the Health and Safety Manager, investigate serious incidents and will analyse the findings and make suitable recommendations to reduce the likelihood of a future re-occurrence. He / she will report the findings of investigations to the Health and Safety Manager and relevant Trust Managers.
The postholder will, in conjunction with health and safety Manager, analyse and interpret the outcomes of risk assessments and offer advice and support on the range of options identified to control and reduce risk.
The post holder will develop workplace inspection plans and conduct inspections with staff safety representatives and Trust Managers.
The postholder will support the Health and Safety Manager and Trust Managers in the formulation of risk assessment programmes for their departments and advise and assist as appropriate.
The post holder will, in conjunction with the Health and Safety Manager and Trust Managers, develop and support the implementation of Divisional Health and Safety Policies, Health and Safety plans and safety strategies.
The post holder will provide guidance to Trust Managers and support the development, monitoring and review of safe working procedures, the provision of suitable documentation for the safe use and maintenance of a wide range of potentially dangerous and expensive plant, equipment and machinery.
