**Job Description**:
The Research Collaboration Officer will work in close collaboration with the NIHR’s broad research infrastructure supporting the identification, set-up and ongoing support of Collaborations, which include the Translational Research Collaborations (TRCs)

**Key Responsibilities**:
**Administrative support for the Collaborations Team**:

- Set up of team meetings, preparation of agendas, minutes and reports for wider dissemination, including follow-up and ensuring successful delivery of actions where appropriate and ad hoc activities to support the smooth running of the team.
- Coordination, management and support for the delivery of events e.g. conferences, workshops, events and meetings
- Management of the team inbox with timely responses to and triaging of external enquiries
- Ensuring best practice for managing data and information governance and continually looking for ways to improve processes within team

**Supporting the scoping, set-up and ongoing delivery of collaborations**:

- Administrate and facilitate meetings and workshops to bring together leading researchers to develop collaborative ideas and identify priorities
- Contribute to the provision of analyses, intelligence and information on NIHR research infrastructure portfolios.
- Providing support for TRCs and other collaborations as required, to include meeting administration, minutes and follow up
- Facilitating and supporting relationships between NIHR-funded infrastructure and external stakeholders, including research funders, industry and charities
- Ad hoc support for new initiatives and projects, for example, in response to the Office for Life Sciences Missions - this may include support for peer review, meetings and stakeholder engagement.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships internally across NIHR Coordinating Centre to enable collaborative working and achieving mutual goals
- Engage and participate in cross-team and cross-NIHR projects on behalf of the Collaborations Team
- Work with other team members to identify, and help to develop, case studies and success stories in relation to NIHR supported Collaborations

**Qualifications**:
**Key Competencies/qualifications essential for this role**
- Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail, including minute-taking, meetings and diary management and record keeping
- An outgoing and engaging personality with excellent interpersonal, liaison and communication skills - written and verbal
- A proactive, self-motivated, flexible and enthusiastic team player who can work independently and support the team to achieve its goals, staying on top of tasks and deadlines and holding others to account as necessary
- Confidence and diplomacy when dealing with stakeholders in a variety of organisations with diverse levels of experience and seniority, with an ability to easily build and maintain favourable working relationships
- Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines; competent to balance a combination of desk-based administration and research, with stakeholder management and meeting coordination and keen to support ad hoc and cross-team tasks
- Ability to synthesise complex information quickly and articulate to external stakeholders
- A biomedical science degree with experience gained through previous employment in the life sciences research sector, with an understanding of clinical research and research funding processes

**The following qualifications/experience and competencies are desirable for this role**:

- Experience of working in clinical research and/or research funding or management
- An understanding of the complex NIHR infrastructure and funding system and/or previous experience of working with the NIHR
- Experience of planning and delivering meetings and events, both online and face to face
- An understanding of what makes good patient and public involvement and engagement (PPIE) in research and a commitment to ensure this is effectively implemented
