Finance Assistant

We are looking for a well organised, proactive and focused individual to join our growing Finance team, playing a key role in supporting the finance team in day-to-day accounting tasks, including data entry, invoice processing, reconciliation, and other administrative duties. This role is ideal for someone with basic accounting knowledge and excellent organisational skills, looking to grow and develop in the field of accounting.

The role & responsibilities:
The Finance Assistant will:
- Support in the preparation of management accounts - including ownership of specified control account reconciliations
- Oversee the purchase ledger including maintaining purchase workflow from ordering to invoicing to approval, processing, general ledger entry and payment
- Support the business treasury function including monitoring and posting of detailed bank transactions on day-to-day basis, assisting with wider cashflow strategy and placement of funds in deposit accounts
- Monitor business expenditure and track and report any variances to budget
- Raise various sales invoices and reconcile fees taken in Curo, our business CRM system
Undertake ad hoc reporting and analysis tasks
Person specification:
Essential
- Have AAT Level 3 or above **or** be part-qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA, or equivalent accountancy qualification level
- Experience in working in a financial function with knowledge of accounts payable and bank reconciliations
- Prior experience of supporting with the preparation of management accounts
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel
- High level of attention to detail and a commitment to quality
- Be able to work as part of a team and work from the Whiteley office for a minimum of 2 days per week
Desirable
- A or A* Mathematics A-Level
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Business Central
- Excellent Excel and analytical skills. Able to work with and analyse large datasets
- Knowledge and use of the Microsoft Power Platform, in particular Power Query
- Financial services or wealth management industry experience
