Mansfield, United Kingdom YMCA Robin Hood Group Full time

YMCA Robin Hood Group provides housing support for vulnerable young people and young adults, aged 16-24, in our supported accommodation property in Mansfield, providing our residents stepping stones towards independent living. We also provide transitionary properties for our residents across Mansfield as part of our staged approach to independence.

We are recruiting for a Tenancy Sustainment Worker to work closely with our Residents to ensure they sustain their current tenancy to make positive steps towards independent living.

You will play a positive and influential role in these young people's lives, helping them to access education and training, learn essential life skills and help to make those steps after YMCA slightly less daunting.

Based at our Mansfield accommodation, this will be a busy, varied and interesting role, working closely with a group of Residents that you will build trust, understanding and positive rapport with. Whilst professional boundaries are essential, we want you to care and be highly motivated to make a difference to their lives.

On a day to day basis, you can expect your role to include:

- Positive interaction with residents, monitoring and reviewing their progress within the staged provision model
- Signposting residents to appropriate internal and external support provisions.
- Lead one to one and group sessions with residents with the aim of sustaining their tenancies, developing life skills and becoming a part of the local community
- Mediation of any disputes/conflicts between residents
- Ensuring residents claim housing benefit and other benefits as applicable to ensure recovery of rent and service charges.
- Dealing with anti-social behaviour issues, serve notices and verbal and written warnings in accordance with procedures.
- Work with residents in their move towards independent living e.g. advising residents on obtaining furniture and supplies, registering with medical services and providing information on local services.

**About You**

This is a demanding but rewarding role which requires experience of supporting vulnerable / challenging adults and / or young people with a variety of needs. You will have experience of working in a Supported Housing Project and have experience of effectively moving people on to more permanent housing options

You will be passionate about supporting people and share our belief that everyone should have a fair chance to discover who they are and what they can become.

Your communication skills will be your greatest strength and you will have experience of dealing with difficult situations, and challenging people and handling conflict appropriately.

From your background, you will have high level working knowledge of Housing Benefit, Personal Budgets and the welfare and benefits system as well as good understanding of the needs of homeless complex people and the services available to them.

Ideally, you will have a full clean driving license and access to own transport as visits (sometimes at short notice) to the transitional homes will be required.

This role is primarily Monday to Friday, working 9am - 5pm, 37.5 hours per week but you must also be open to work on a rota basis which can include some early mornings, evening and weekend shifts to help support the wider running of the team in the event of holidays, absence and busy periods. You may also get involved with events and activities for the young people and as such some of these might be outside of the traditional working week.

If you are looking to work for an organisation who cares about you and your wellbeing, the YMCA prides itself on the package of wellbeing we support all our employees.
