To support the Antenatal and Newborn Screening team, by helping to implement, monitor and maintain safe and quality assured National Antenatal and Newborn Screening Programmes locally. The purpose is to carry out failsafe activities to ensure the screening loop is closed. This helps to meet National Standards and most importantly reduces risk of harm from missed or incomplete screening to mothers and babies for which The Royal Wolverhampton Trust are responsible.

The Screening Support administrator will be expected to communicate with other professionals involved in the screening process, to participate in the organisation of meetings, preparation of teaching materials and dissemination of performance management letters.

Managing and maintaining screening databases for the Antenatal and Newborn Screening programmes ensuring that working procedures adhere to Data Protection Requirements within the Trust.

Maintain failsafe systems by ensuring the eligible population have an outcome recorded for each relevant screening programme, this requires following up missing data and requesting repeat samples for example.

Escalating any missed screening to the screening coordinators as a priority

Can identify and escalate problems that may affect the quality of the data and subsequent reports

Assisting with activities aimed at maintaining and improving relevant key performance indicators for the antenatal and newborn screening programmes

Accurate data entry to databases or national systems, to evidence and ensure that all women and their babies are offered Antenatal and New-born screening. To include Sickle Cell & Thalassemia, Fetal Anomaly, Infectious Diseases, Newborn Bloodspot screening and the Newborn Infant Physical Examination. Ensuring an outcome has been recorded.

Collect data for the key performance indicators (KPI), and national programme standards, so that they can be monitored and submitted quarterly/annually as applicable.

Record, maintain, transmit and store information relating to the delivery of care services either electronically or on paper.

To deal with enquiries on behalf of the clinical teams either by telephone, personal contact, or correspondence, within agreed limits and take appropriate action, i.e., ensure appropriate documentation is available.

Assist with the effective management of patient pathways ensuring that all necessary appointments, including booking outpatients, clinics, are arranged in line with programme standards.

Assist the clinical teams and on receipt of test / investigation results retrieve relevant patient notes and alert of any urgent or abnormal test results when required.

Assist the process of patient tracking including booking all necessary appointments, and booking interpreters if required, and following up results.

Liaise effectively at all levels with other departments, hospitals, GPs, clients, and other health care agencies when required.

Ensure that all enquiries made, both by telephone and in person are dealt with in a friendly helpful and efficient manner and where necessary an appropriate referral is made.

Alert their line manager when users of the service are adversely affected

To treat as confidential all information obtained in the course of your work.

Maintain a flexible approach to the post to rapidly assimilate changes in workload, patterns, and requirements.

Be familiar and adhere to approved Trust policies and standards of care/practice.

Identify own learning needs and take appropriate measures to enhance their knowledge.
