**Key responsibilities include**: Proactively develop strategic, face to face relationships with new and existing high value supporters, delivering excellent stewardship and cultivation and asking at the right time for multi-year financial support. Work closely with the Appeal Director to create and implement a robust major donor fundraising strategy to raise funds for the appeal and projects post-appeal. Work with the Appeal Director and other members of the fundraising team as well as the Senior Executive Team, Charitable Funds Board, NHS staff and senior volunteers to build sustainable relationships with major donors. Work with the Prospect Researcher to gain insight into donors and prospects to inform donor development plans.

Within parameters agreed with the Appeal Director, establish and manage a voluntary Appeal Board of influential individuals who not only will be key donors but also ambassadors, fundraisers and advisors for the appeal. Contribute to relevant fundraising protocols and policies. Ensure all fundraising activities are conducted with high standards of integrity and in accordance with relevant legislation; to follow accepted codes of practice as set out by the Institute of Fundraising. Keep informed of any legislative or regulatory changes which impact on the charity, its fundraising and taking effective action when necessary.

Provide monthly progress reports to the Appeal Director and Charitable Funds Committee. Produce and update a pipeline regularly, reviewing income and analyse projects, and create actions plans and mitigations as required. Create engaging, compelling and memorable communications, tailored to individuals, to update and inform supporters of the impact of their donations. Invite and host donors to appropriate high-level events.

With support of the fundraising team, co-create bespoke events for donors ranging from large receptions to seminars, discussions and intimate dinners, delivering presentations that will inform and inspire audiences to engage with the charity. Proactively lead on all aspects of financial administration for all the Major Donor grants. Work with the Appeal Director and Charity Manager to prepare and complete all grant financial returns, ensuring that work is completed in line with financial timescales. Input into due diligence and risk management Meet with patients and families who have experience of hospital care and services to understand their needs for on-site family accommodation.

Sensitively and confidentially learn about their experiences to help refine/improve proposals for the appeal. Maintain communication and appropriate level of contact with patients and their families. To provide advice and support and train others to secure funding from major donors as well as helping them to manage that relationship.
