**Pastoral Co-Ordinator at Secondary School ( Ideally to start ASAP )**

**Contract**: Permanent and Full Time - Term time + 5 days

**Department**:Business Support

**Reports to**:Assistant Headteacher - Head of Faculty/House

**Purpose**:

- To lead, manage and ensure the successful delivery of the school’s vision for individual student achievement.
- To work effectively with the Head of House (AHT) to develop and support a vibrant and successful Faculty/House.
- Ensuring excellent attendance, punctuality, and behaviour for learning within the faculty/house(s) to which you are attached
- To monitor the achievement of pupils in the faculty/house(s) to which you are attached
- To play a significant part in all aspects of the community life in the school
- To be part of a team which holds significant responsibility for managing the efficient and effective day to day running of the school.
- To lead on pastoral, social, emotional, and behavioural issues of the pupils in the house(s) to which you are assigned

**Core responsibilities**:
**Behaviour**
- Promote high standards of behaviour among students, encouraging them to develop positive relationships with each other and with all adults.
- To deal with and accurately record all incidents of bullying and unacceptable behaviour
- Be on call throughout the day, acting as the first point of contact for students in one(two) House and dealing with situations as they arise in order to prevent escalation or further incidents arising.
- Sweep the School regularly through the day, particularly targeting specific groups and classes as necessary and being proactive in incident prevention.
- Promote the school’s reward system and ensure that all students and staff use this to the full.
- Be a staff presence on duty at every lunch and break time.
- Actively support school detentions within the house system

**Attendance**
- Work closely with the Attendance Officers and Student Welfare/ EWO to ensure that a highly proactive approach is taken to preventing persistent absentees and to keeping attendance above the school target.
- Do daily punctuality sweeps on the gate, interviewing all late comers, working in collaboration with the Student Welfare Leader.

**Achievement**
- To support raised educational standards and develop a culture of high achievement.

**General**
- To develop strong leadership skills, peer coaching and mentoring within students through the House system.
- Work in partnership with key colleagues to ensure that students are effectively prepared for all key events e.g. work experience, option choices, external examinations etc.
- Support the work around creating alternative timetables for vulnerable students and ensuring a personalised provision where appropriate; share information with all key personnel as appropriate.
- To liaise with parents/carers regularly to secure excellent attendance, behaviour and standards
- To be on gate duty (or around site) before and after the school day
- To take lunch and break times outside of school break and lunch times.
- Attend TAC and other meetings as necessary and liaise with other agencies involved between meetings to ensure that all actions are followed through and students and their families are well supported as directed by the Head of House or other responsible leader
- Organise and support a range of House events and encourage high levels of participation.
- Take responsibility for new entrants to the House and ensure they receive good induction to the school
