An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Pelvic Health Midwife to join the maternity team at the Jessop Wing.

This role is part of a new South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw regional service, and will require a proactive approach to meet the local, regional and national standards to improve pelvic health for women. Based at STH the post holder will work in partnership with the Specialist Physiotherapist in female health and with the multi-disciplinary team ensuring appropriate care pathways for those women with pelvic health issues during pregnancy.

The role will also support the Obstetric Anal Sphincter Injury (OASI2) care bundle implementation and involve working clinically on labour ward to support staff. The post holder will provide advice to the clinical teams and contribute to the development of educational resources to support learning and monitor its effectiveness.
- Individual will be highly visible in the clinical areas working alongside teams to implement new ways of working to improve outcomes for women with perineal injury
- Able to provide respectful professional challenge to colleagues to support change management.
- Act as a role model and employ professional behaviour that encourages and challenge their own current competencies, whilst seeking opportunities to enhance their roles.
- Proactively maintain and foster clear lines of communication between the different disciplines involved in providing support and care to women with pelvic health issues.
- Participate in multi-disciplinary meetings as appropriate to develop the service.
- Review and maintain perineal guidelines and be active in implementing the guidelines within the wider midwifery team.
- Use midwifery knowledge, experience and skills to provide one-to-one antenatal and postnatal consultations for women to optimise maternal outcomes whilst providing sensitive, woman centred care.
- Undertake fundamental and complex midwifery duties to include assessment planning implementation and evaluation of care delivery. This should also include health promotion activity within the area of practice

The Directorate of Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Neonatology is based at the Jessop Wing which is linked to the Royal Hallamshire Hospital. The maternity unit has over 6800 births per year and is a Regional Tertiary Maternity Service with a Level 3 Neonatal Unit of 44 cots. A tertiary Gynae-Oncology service and a changing Gynaecology Service, which includes an Assisted Conception Unit, complete the services within the Directorate.
