**Job Title: Dual Diagnosis Peer Support Worker**

**Reports to: Locality Lead**

**Base Red Rose Locality Office - Preston**

**Salary: £23,000**

**Hours 1 x Full time position**

**Job Summary**:
The Peer Support Worker will:

- Identify and establish a connection with individuals with dual diagnosis support needs.
- Support individuals into accessing addiction and mental health services.
- Advocate for individuals accessing care, and help to overcome identified barriers.
- Have a lived experience and a detailed understanding of addiction, recovery and mental health issues.
- Understand associated issues such as, trauma, sexual abuse, etc
- Support and develop improved pathways of care.
- Develop and maintain working relationships with substance misuse and mental health services.
- Deliver one to one and group peer support.
- Ensure the accurate recording of data and outcomes.
- Provide additional support to service users, where necessary, to attend appointments and meetings.
- Be an active member of the Lancashire User Forum (LUF), promoting it wherever possible.

Arrange and deliver regular LUF events in line with RRR team leaders.
- Liaise with partner agencies, stakeholders and commissioners to ensure that there are referral pathways.
- Promote visible recovery and encourage both clinical treatment and community based mutual-aid, using asset-based approaches.
- Demonstrate empathy and a non-judgemental attitude towards all individuals, maintaining confidentiality in line with RRR policies and procedures.
- Deliver elements of the Hope and Beyond programme and address stress management.

Personal lived experience of both addiction and mental health issues - E

Experience of organising and prioritising a demanding workload - E

Experience of setting up and delivering group support - E

Experience of working with a wide range and diverse client base, along with various professionals from other services - E

**Knowledge**

Knowledge of working with individuals with addiction and mental health and challenging the behaviours of these individuals - E

Understanding of how community networks and peer support can benefit recovery - E

Understanding of asset-based community development - E

Understanding of safeguarding, both adult and child - E

**Skills, Abilities & Aptitudes**

Ability to produce accurate work, meeting deadlines set - E

Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing - E

IT literacy, including MS Office programmes, Zoom and smartphones - E

Ability to work on own initiative and independently when required but also to work as a part of a team and seek support where necessary - E
