**HGV Mechanic**

**Skelmersdale**

**Mon - Fri 45 hours per week: 06:00-16:00 & 08:00-18:00 (rotating shifts)**

**£19-£22 per hour plus standby (£50.00 per week) and callout (£25.00 initial payment followed by hours worked)**

Ideal Recruit are working with a leading 3PL organisation in Skelmersdale who is seeking a HGV Mechanic to join the team on a full time, permanent basis. You will carry out repairs, preventative maintenance, regular inspections and attend to breakdowns of the fleet vehicles. Tools and manual company vehicle provided to the successful applicant.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Carry out preventative, effective maintenance in accordance with the policies and procedures.
- Diagnose and repair defects on vehicles.
- Conduct efficient services and safety inspections on the fleet.
- Attend to breakdowns both roadside and site based.
- Complete all relevant paperwork and documentation accurately and to required standards.
- Continually identify possible recharges and warranty claims and escalate these to the appropriate Fleet Manager.
- Maintain accurate, detailed records of each repair performed on vehicles.
- Maintain parts inventory and the vehicles tracking system and on-board cameras.
- Reduce non-scheduled work and vehicle visits to the location with regular preventative maintenance.
- Ensure planned workload is completed to the required standard.
- Communicate vehicle status when require.
- Ensure all defects are dealt with promptly and efficiently.
- Remain up to date with the latest vehicle technology and legislative changes.
- Promote good practice and report any safety concerns to Fleet Manager.
- Follow all LOP’s and Health & Safety process and procedures.
- Wear the correct PPE at all times.
- Abide by the clean as you go policy.
- Attend weekly Health and Safety/HACCP meetings with wider Fleet team.
- Adhere to warehouse and site Health & Safety rules during every visit.

**Requirements**:

- Previous, practical and demonstrable experience within an HGV Technician capacity (essential).
- HGV Technical/Mechanical Qualification, i.e., City & Guilds/Level 3 NVQ in Vehicle Maintenance Repair (essential).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Confident working autonomously with the ability to effectively problem solve.
