Job Introduction
The Edinburgh Academy seeks to appoint an enthusiastic and passionate person to perform the role of Assistant Director of Hockey. The role is available from August although the ability to coach tennis, cricket, or athletics may facilitate an earlier start date.

The Postholder will work throughout the entirety of the School’s program. They will have a leading focus in our senior elite teams, the development of the Junior School hockey program and the transition from 8 to 11- a
- side hockey.

Main Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Director or Hockey to deliver a high quality hockey programme from stage 8-18.
- Lead, as advised by the Director of Hockey, on specific teams or groups across the junior and senior school
- Coach at Junior School hockey sessions from, working with Junior School PE staff and the Director of Hockey to plan and deliver a progressive and holistic hockey programme in line with the hockey curriculum.
- Lead a Senior School U15 team and assist with a 1st XI team.
- Uphold and integrate the characteristics, principles and behaviours sought from the EA hockey philosophy
- Be a presence on a Saturday morning to welcome visiting staff and players.
- Lead, umpire & assist with teams as directed by the Director of Hockey.
- Lead and develop the school’s technical skills programme.
- Lead on the further integration of performance analysis into the U15 teams, both male and female. Conduct weekly statistical and scouting analysis for senior teams as directed by the Director of Hockey.
- Lead and coordinate all hockey camps during school holiday periods in cooperation with the commercial director
- Support and assist the Director of Hockey in the support of our outstanding young athletes, working with individual players to assist in their progression within National Programmes
- Provide energy and relevant detail in all sessions, both to forge relationships but also improve and develop individuals
- Holds a hockey coaching qualification (UKCC Level 1/Level 2).
- Has experience working with children and a proven track record of self development
- Has a desire to fully commit to a career in coaching, through club coaching and district / national coaching outside of this remit
- Is always seeking opportunities to learn and improve through quality CPD, observation and reading.
- Is committed to developing personal excellence as a coach, with the goal of accelerating their coaching career.
- Is well prepared and adaptable.
- The ability to coach a third term’s sport in the summer would be an advantage. The School currently offers tennis, cricket, and athletics.

About the school/organisation
The Edinburgh Academy is a fully co-educational school. The School consists of a Senior School, Junior School and a Nursery Department. The School is a member of HMC. The Edinburgh Academy moved to full co-education across the whole school in 2008. The Junior and Senior Schools are on separate sites, both of which have spacious grounds and sports facilities including extensive playing fields, an all-weather sports area, and a large Sports Hall and Centre.
