We teach in small groups with a dedicated and experienced teaching team, with the aim that each student is given individual attention and care. We create individual learning packages to ensure that our students needs are supported.
**Purpose**
We are looking for an experienced, committed, and dynamic individual to work with our Head of School to lead our education service.
The responsibilities outlined in this job description may be modified by the Director and the Director of HR, Compliance and Safeguarding, with your agreement, to reflect or anticipate changes in the job, commensurate with the salary and job title.
The Deputy Head will support the Head of school in bringing to life In toto ed’s Mission and Vision.
The role will involve you working closely with the Head of School and supporting with day-to-day oversight of the leadership and management of the school, you will also work closely with other key members of the Senior Leadership Team, to develop and exciting, happy, successful and creative school.
As Deputy Head you will play a key role in providing strategic and operational direction, managing and coaching the Education team with a focus on driving high quality performance and outcomes. You will bring your experience to the role to inform effective strategies for supporting young people with complex needs and barriers.

**For this job we are looking for someone with the following**:
- A relevant teaching qualification.
- Significant knowledge, skills, and experience in teaching SEMH students
- The skill and experience to develop and deliver the curriculum for students who are not able to function in mainstream education.
- Significant knowledge and experience with working inline with the Independent Special School and OFSTED regulations.
- A skilled communicator with experience and understanding of the communications skills required to teach children and young people who are excluded.
- The ability to initiate and develop collaborative and cooperative working relationships with colleagues from other disciplines, services, and agencies, in schools and in the wider community.
- The ability to develop innovative solutions to problems and think creatively.
- An excellent classroom practitioner.
- The ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, in a variety of settings, and effective presentation skills
- The ability to respond to the pastoral needs of students and the ability to establish effective partnerships with parents/carers.
- A clear understanding of equality issues and barriers in relation to enabling access to the curriculum and raising the achievement for all students.
- Ability to use ICT effectively to support learning.
- Someone who is dynamic, self-motivated, and well organised.
- An excellent leader in developing staff and dealing with students, parents/carers, and outside agencies.
- Able to support staff with dealing with challenging behaviour.

- Experience of teaching within an alternative education provision
- Experience of leading and managing and developing individuals and teams
- The ability to motivate and inspire others
- Willingness to go above and beyond to ensure staff and students are supported
