Cirencester, United Kingdom Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust are seeking a motivated and passionate individual to join the Cotswold Integrated Care Team (ICT) as a Trainee Occupational Health Degree Apprentice.

Our integrated community teams (ICTs) bring together community nurses, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, social workers and reablement workers to work as one team to serve a local area.

These teams work alongside GPs to provide care for people in their place of residence or in the community.

They also work with the ward teams based in our seven community hospitals across Gloucestershire, and with our countywide specialist services, voluntary organisations and other care providers to provide assessments, treatment and support for people within the community. We have teams based in Gloucester, Stroud, Cheltenham, north and south Cotswolds, Tewkesbury and the Forest of Dean.

The post-holder will be a trainee in Occupational Therapy and will complete the Level 6 Occupational Therapist Degree apprenticeship standard (which includes completion of the BSc (Hons) in Occupational Therapy). As an apprentice Occupational Therapist, you will be required to attend teaching days at University, and complete clinical placements (within different services in order to gain a range of clinical experience across different health and social care settings) and in the workplace. This will enable you to fulfil all of the requirements of the BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy programme.

You will develop and maintain knowledge, skills and competencies related to the role of an Occupational Therapist through your apprenticeship within the service as well as through completion of the Occupational Therapy Apprenticeship training programme. This includes working in clinic and community care settings, and delivery of direct person-centred care. Whilst undertaking this training you will work within the service as an Occupational Therapist Apprentice, where your role will reflect your learning.

To successfully complete the Occupational Therapy Degree Apprenticeship incorporating BSc (Hons)Occupational Therapy and End Point Assessment

To attend University based activities and Clinical Placements as set out in the degree programme

To complete and pass academic modules and clinical placements to the required standard in order to progress through the programme

To ensure timely achievement in accordance with the academic programme requirements

To complete and pass the End Point Assessment

On successful completion of the programme you will be equipped with the appropriate knowledge, skills, attitudes and behaviours to ensure competence at the point of qualification. You will have the capability to continue to meet Health and Care Professions Council regulatory standards.

At Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust, we are supportive of the people we care for in the community and aim to provide a fully responsive service to everyone who needs it. This is the same approach we take for our employees. We look to value the skills and experiences of those we work with, whether they are service users, carers, families or those looking to work with us.

Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust is part of the NHS. We treat NHS patients according to NHS principles and standards. The difference is the Trust is accountable to local people, rather than to Government, and so we are able to work closely with our community to develop services in the way that best suits the needs of local people.

Our Staff Survey results showed people at our Trust feel they are engaged, part of a team and work for a compassionate and inclusive organisation.

Our overall scores were better than average in eight of nine themes and level in one - the best overall results for a community, mental health and learning disabilities Trust in the south west and first equal amongst all sector NHS providers within the region too.

Gloucestershire Health and Care is committed to embedding and providing personalised care through all of its services as part of our high-quality care strategy. The purpose of personalised care is to empower people to lead the lives they want to live. Personalised care starts with a conversation with people about what matters to them. It builds on what people can do, as well as addressing their health needs. Including new ways of working and delivering care, emphasising that we need to make effective use of the full range of our people’s skills and experience to deliver the best possible patient care. So we want to know What Matters to You and that you will share our values and join us on this very important journey.

The qualification, training & experience requirements for the role are underlined in the Job Description/Person Specification.
