Occupational Therapy Assistant

Cirencester, United Kingdom Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust Full time

We currently have a vacancy for an Occupational Therapy assistant to join our Integrated Community Team (ICT) in the South Cotswolds, with our office based in Cirencester.

The ICT consists of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Reablement and Community Nurses, who all work closely together with our acute and primary care colleagues to enable people to live as independently as possible at home.

The ethos of the teams is a Reablement, person-led approach to recovery and self-management, to ensure we offer care close to home, thus avoiding unnecessary admissions to bed based services.

As an Occupational Therapy assistant, you will work as part of the Integrated Community Team, carrying out work delegated by the Occupational Therapists, to promote independence. This will involve working with the whole team to achieve patient goals.

We are a modern trust, which means whilst on the go you’ll be equipped for mobile working (using a laptop and smart phone device); not only is this safer because you will have access to all patient information at your fingertips, it also means you can complete records and any other patient documentation in real time, so you can then focus all your attention on your next patient.

If you would like to work for an Organisation that values its staff, aims to deliver the best care, offering compassion to all patients, their carers and families, and you can demonstrate this to us, we would like to hear from you

The Occupational Therapists and Assistants in the Integrated Community Teams, work with adults with physical disabilities, cognitive impairment, complex social and community needs, experiencing occupational performance difficulties within and around their own home environment.

The occupational therapy assistant will work as part of the community occupational therapy team within an Integrated Community Team (ICT). Their work will be underpinned by the principles and philosophy of occupational therapy. They will hold their own autonomous caseload triaged and delegated by an occupational therapist. They will be responsible for the assessment, implementation and evaluation of patient treatment programmes within assessed competencies

Trust Values

The post holder will be expected to work in line with the Trust values which are:

- Working together
- Always improving
- Respectful and kind
- Making a difference

At Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust, we are supportive of the people we care for in the community and aim to provide a fully responsive service to everyone who needs it. Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust is part of the NHS. We treat NHS patients according to NHS principles and standards. The difference is the Trust is accountable to local people, rather than to Government, and so we are able to work closely with our community to develop services in the way that best suits the needs of local people.

The qualification, training & experience requirements for the role are underlined in the Job Description/Person Specification.
