Lead Specialist Midwife for Bereavement Services

Are you an experienced midwife who is passionate about supporting families who have experienced a perinatal loss or need additional support during pregnancy? Are you looking for career progression or a move to a more specialist role?
The Perinatal support service provides perinatal bereavement support, a birth reflections service and support to birthing people who require additional support during pregnancy, whose needs are not met by other services such as perinatal mental health services or maternal mental health services.
We are a friendly team where the specialist midwifery roles are invaluable and well established. The role will be supported by regular clinical supervision, access to reflective practice and ongoing CPD opportunities.
The role can be flexible, and a job share arrangement will be considered.
Our specialist midwife will work in collaboration with wider perinatal team to provide high quality evidence-based support to women/ birthing people. The role has an emphasis on networking with other services, delivering training and consultation to our staff and other services, including being an integrated part of their MDT
This is a key, organisation-wide role in developing and maintaining high standards of care for birthing people and families who have experienced perinatal loss or require additional support during pregnancy and whose needs are not met by other specialist services.
The post holder will be required to have excellent communication skills in a sometimes-difficult environment, using tact and diplomacy. Communicates complex matters verbally and in writing.
The role will be part of a multidisciplinary team with a high level of relevant expert knowledge and skills, which will be used to manage, develop the service in line with national and local guidance. Ensuring that relevant pathways, policies and processes for this group, are developed, implemented and audited. This will involve working with a range of relevant professionals, services and agencies.
This post will support multidisciplinary colleagues through coordinating and providing training and guidance in perinatal bereavement and trauma informed care for key maternity staff, to enable them to provide holistic care that optimises mental as well as physical health. The post holder will be offer innovative practice and be an effective change agent, promoting evidence based practice.
