The post will be basedacross all sites in the NMCPS Network. This is an interesting and important job, previous experience preferred in this field although this is not essential as full training is given.

Your role as a Trainee Anatomical Pathology Technologist (APT) is to work alongside qualified Mortuary Technologists and Mortuary Support Workers as part of the mortuary department team to provide care to deceased patients.

**The types of duties include**: admitting and discharging deceased, viewing deceased to relatives, weighing and recording organs weights, washing and dressing deceased patients, cleaning the post mortem rooms, monitoring deceased’s condition.

There will be a network mentor who will assist you in all the training requirements for progression onto the Royal Institute of health (RIPH) Level 3 qualification.

Acting with compassion you will put deceased patients at the centre of all you do.

You will communicate effectively with the mortuary team.

During winter months November - March the core hours are extended to accommodate for changes in service provision due to the demand of capacity.

You will show courage by embracing new ways of working and doing the right thing by the people you care for, including speaking up when you have concerns.

The post holder will be required to perform a range of routine and non-routine tasks within the mortuary, following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) including the Pathology Quality Policy to provide support to the mortuary manager in order to ensure a high quality service.

To plan, organise and carry out own routine work in all sections of the Mortuary as required by the mortuary manager and the senior mortuary technologists.

To assist in the development of mortuary procedures and protocols for the mortuary service.

To provide data entry support in relation to the receipt and removal of the deceased. To carry out any other office related duties as requested by the manager

To work within the written Policies and Procedures of the Department especially in relation to Health and Safety and Quality. Assists with the monitoring of quality standards within the department.

To adhere to all mortuary standard operational procedures.

Maintains clinical records in relation to work carried out.

To assist the mortuary manager in providing a professional and dignified mortuary service for the trust.

You will need to have access to your own private vehicle to travel between sites which is also required to complete on call duties.
