Job Description

The successful candidate will contribute to providing high-quality Mortuary and Post-Mortem Services to North Tees & Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust, medical staff, Police, HM Coroners, Funeral Directors, and other legitimate users.

In this role, you will work closely with consultant Histopathologists, trainee SPR, external forensic pathologists, and Coroners Services to deliver a mortuary service that meets the highest standards. Your duties will include coordinating staff activities, overseeing day-to-day management of the technical team, and ensuring compliance with local and national protocols.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Work collaboratively with various stakeholders to provide a comprehensive mortuary service.
  2. Develop and maintain quality systems, including SOPs, training, and competency assessments.
  3. Liaise with hospital staff and relatives to arrange viewings and communicate effectively.
Person SpecificationEssential Qualifications
  • Professional registration is required for this position.
  • Holds Level 3 and 4 Diplomas in Anatomical Pathology Technology or equivalents.
  • Full British driving licence is necessary for travel between sites.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Member of the Association of Anatomical Pathology Technologists would be beneficial.
  • Experience working in an NHS mortuary would be advantageous.
  • Understanding of clinical governance, audit, and quality targets would be desirable.
