Assistant Project Controllers support Project Managers (PM) and their teams to delivery Capital projects by planning project activities, key milestones and costs using standard templates for low to medium complexity projects. Updating project to reflect progress from the PM's updates. The role involves helping to identifying issues and trends which could impact on the successful delivery of the projects. Assisting with the management of project risks and changes, recording, tracking and updating project outputs in line with regulatory commitments. You will provide reports and information to enable the PM to make accurate and timely decisions about the project. All of the above will be under the supervision of a more senior controller. In addition they are to support the Senior Project Controller with tasks associated with team.

**Job Accountabilities**:
The following are the main responsibilities for the role. The level of independence will depend on the project complexity. For low to medium complexity projects the Assistant Project Controller will work independently once fully trained under the supervision of a more experienced Controller.
- Planning and maintaining project plans and baselines Project/Design Managers
- Updating CPMS (Capital Programme Management System) with Project/Design Managers and monitoring project dates and advising on corrective action.
- Planning and maintaining project cost plans and baselines with Project/Design Managers including UU resources and third party activities.
- Updating CPMS (Capital Programme Management System) with Project/Design Managers and monitoring project costs and advising on corrective action.
- Monitoring project costs and ensuring costs booked to the correct codes.
- Helping PM's assess project cost progress and reporting on the value of work undertaken. Posting any accruals to reflect project progress and actual costs to date
- Assisting with project risk and change management. Support project teams when going through the change control process
- Ensuring that project outputs are planned and reported in CPMS with Project Manager
- Preparing monthly summary reports to highlight project issues, risks and forthcoming milestones and actions, and prompting intervention as necessary.
- Review Month end reviews with Project Manager and Senior Project Controllers to identify trends / issues that have an impact to the success of a Project or Project Portfolio
- Provide PM / DM / WLPM with ad hoc Project information about cost and schedule and highlight variances from the plan
- Use appropriate templates to track project cost and schedule performance.
- Build bespoke project WBS and activities in order to match the project requirements for non-standard projects.
- Undertake project data quality checks and corrective action as directed by Senior Project Controllers
- Maintaining appropriate project baselines. Ensuring Project Baselines are taken in line with programme Office guidelines i.e. at Key - PAC gateways

**Knowledge and Skills**:

- Working knowledge of MS Office Products including the intermediate use of Excel spreadsheets
- Good analytical skills with an ability to organise and understand large amounts of information
- Organising and assisting with the running meetings
- Able to plan own time to achieve individual and team goals especially in line with the monthly business planning and update cycle
- Assist producing monthly reports on schedule and costs performance for PM's
- Involvement in delivery and/or support of projects
- Understanding of the project life cycle
- Involvement and contribution towards achievement of team goals and objectives
- Awareness and possible use of information management using a variety of business tools including, but not restricted to: SAP, Primavera, P6 Microsoft Excel spreadsheets
