**Job Title: Learning & Wellbeing Officer (young people)**

The role of the **Learning & Wellbeing Officer** is to meet the needs of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, to enhance their well-being, qualifications, and employment needs.

The role is varied and covers a variety of roles and responsibilities in order that we can adapt to the needs of the learners and the College. We recognise the role is challenging and therefore seek individuals who can thrive in a high-needs and fun environment. Who can develop positive relationships with young people whilst being adaptable and working across a number of tasks simultaneously. Where possible the College will aim to match your skillset with the needs of the learners and College.

We are therefore seeking individuals who are:

- Positive and fun - we want to provide our learners with a friendly and caring environment and support one another even when it gets tough
- Adaptable and skillful - we want someone who can work across different responsibilities and to adapt their style for different learners
- Team players - we want someone who can listen, communicate and collaborate with different staff members, based on the changing needs of the learners and college

The role can be divided into the following key areas, you may be asked to focus on 1 or more of these, and possibly all of them:
**Community work & project delivery**:

- To develop a welcoming, caring and friendly environment for our young people from diverse backgrounds.
- To engage with all learners from different backgrounds.
- To organise activities for young people including social activities (trips & visits), and projects which focus on health, bullying crime & drugs.
- To support our young people to build their own self-confidence and resilience to overcome barriers and achieve their goals through positive relationships, delivering and recording effective interventions and projects, outreach including working with partners, meeting targets and providing administrative support.
- To respond to challenging behaviour, helping learners to access the support around them.
- To support staff to provide learners with a positive experience.

**Teaching & learning**:

- To deliver English, ESOL, maths or other qualifications.
- To offer cover for teachers when necessary e.g. during staff sickness absences.
- To prepare and deliver 121s, small and full group sessions including tracking learners progress and delivering feedback, developing lesson plans and schemes of work.
- To deliver specific interventions based upon the needs of the learner in particular with learners on educational health care plans (EHCPs).
- To deliver, support and arrange exams and learners accessing qualifications.
- To work as a Teaching Assistant, to support both the teacher and learner or learners.
- To deliver and assist on enrichment activities (e.g. sports, cooking, student council etc) to build learner’s skills and sense of belonging.

**Administration & premises support**:

- To act as front of house greeting and helping everyone and being the first point of contact for enquiries including external partners.
- To sign up learners on courses, completing forms and meeting eligibility requirements.
- To support the day to day running of the campus ensuring it is safe, presentable, and meets the learners needs.
- To keep detailed and up-to-date records of meetings with learners and share information with teachers and other staff as appropriate.
- To maintain confidential records.
- To work with internal and external people e.g. The Virtual School, social workers, teachers and other specialists.
- To monitor and evaluate our work in consultation with colleagues, young people and outcomes from surveys.
- Completing administration tasks such as waiting lists, booking inductions and so on.
- To maintain, monitor and chase up attendance records.

**Wellbeing & Safeguarding**
- To work with learners during their initial inductions to build learner profiles, including relevant background information, relationships at home, and any other needs or risks associated with them.
- To support learners’ wellbeing needs through developing trust, regularly checking in with learners, recording and communicating their needs to staff and identifying and delivering positive interventions.
- To record and follow up all safeguarding concerns working with the Designated Safeguarding Leads
- To promote Prevent, Safeguarding and British Values.
- To monitor and improve inclusion, ensuring all programmes are accessible for all.

**Employability**
- To work within a team to identify the needs of young people and assist in the delivery of Employability and Careers.
- To offer advice and guidance to help young people get the most out of our programmes.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time

**Salary**: £21,000.00-£27,000.00 per year
