What you'll be doing

What your day might look like- Catalogue and research property for bibliography, provenance and exhibition history using libraries, online databases, the internet, and outside experts (such as curators, dealers, publishers, etc.).- Complete expertise research for property confirming its authenticity.- Work with the Restitution Department to ensure all provenance due diligence is complete.- Flag any authenticity concerns and condition issues in timely manner to a Head of Sale.- Attending pricing, condition reporting, and hilling sessions- Prepare property for hilling sessions (to determine value, condition and marketability of property); and update cataloguing accordingly after hilling- Coordinate photography, framing and restoration.- Maintain sale images in media library with intern assistance (monitor progress; liaise with photo studio on missing images, deadline constraints).- Assist with screening and catalogue production where needed.- Prepare condition reports and images to be forwarded to potential buyers upon request.- Working with and building relationships with the wider Impressionist & Modern Art cluster and Christie’s representatives in other locations- Project managing and becoming the main point of contact for single owner collection sales for the Impressionist and Modern Art department as agreed by Head of Department- Other duties as assigned by Manager

What you'll bring to the team- Knowledge of the category with a market awareness- In depth appreciation of the International Markets, competitors, collections and with a view and perspective on future growth opportunities- Proactive and collegiate approach to work- Bachelor’s degree in art history, modern & contemporary art category preferred, or equivalent work experience; Master’s degree preferred- Knowledge of E-mail, Spreadsheet, Word Processing and Presentation software (Microsoft Office preferred)- Ability to learn Christie’s systems including JDE, COS, intranet and website- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including superior written and spoken communication- Fluency in English essential; French or German language skills desirable- Superior client service skills- Ability to remain calm in stressful situations- Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize- Strong follow-up skills with attention to detail
