A range of duties relating to the effective receipt of goods into the Trust and their safe storage and delivery to end-users. The post holder is responsible for the delivery of supplies across a portfolio of clinical and non-clinical areas including but not limited to wards and surgery departments. They must ensure continuity of flow of supplies from goods inwards to end-users.

To be responsible for operating electric counterbalance fork lift truck and pedestrian trucks for off-loading vehicles and making deliveries to internal departments, being aware of safety precautions at all times. To avoid damage to people, buildings, equipment and goods, in accordance with Health & Safety procedures

To ensure incoming goods are received and stored in line with departmental procedures.

To check internal delivery notes against goods on parcels certifying there are no discrepancies.

To match supplier delivery notes to purchase order details and receipt deliveries on the Trust purchase order system, in line with performance targets.

To assist in keeping the Receipts and Distribution area neat and tidy.

To maintain a pleasant, polite and professional attitude to all internal customers at all times, ensuring any enquiries they may have are dealt with promptly or passed to the appropriate purchasing and supply officer to address.

To liaise effectively with other members of the Purchasing and Supply Department reporting any problems, queries or discrepancies to appropriate individuals.

To support the Materials Management function as required.

To ensure compliance at all times with relevant Trust and Purchasing and Supply Department policies and procedures.

To attend any training associated with the position and complete units within deadlines. To be committed to completing all training offered.

Attend meetings and undertake learning opportunities.

Attend training sessions and workshops as directed.

To maintain good time keeping and attendance and comply with dress code.

Each member of the Purchasing & Supply team, due to the nature of the facility, is jointly and individually responsible for the security of Receipt & Distribution premises. This includes safeguarding of Trust owned assets whilst held within the department and in transit through the hospital.
