**(Transport Planner) - Position Overview**
- **Route Planning**: Utilize your excellent geographical knowledge to manually plan optimal routes for our fleet of vehicles, considering factors such as distance, traffic conditions, and delivery deadlines.
- **Scheduling**: Create daily and weekly schedules for drivers and vehicles, balancing load capacities, driver availability, and delivery requirements.
- **Load Optimization**: Ensure maximum load efficiency by coordinating multiple deliveries within a single route, minimizing empty miles, and reducing fuel consumption.
- **Communication**: Maintain effective communication with drivers, customers, and internal teams to provide real-time updates, resolve issues, and adapt to any changes in delivery requirements.
- **Problem Solving**: Address on-the-road challenges, such as unforeseen delays or route deviations, by making quick decisions that uphold delivery schedules while prioritizing safety.
- **Compliance**: Stay up to date with transportation regulations and company policies, ensuring all planning activities adhere to legal and safety standards.
- **Record Keeping**: Maintain accurate records of routes, schedules, and delivery performance to assist in evaluating efficiency and identifying areas for improvement.
**(Transport Planner) - Position Requirements**
- **Geographical Knowledge**: Strong understanding of local and regional geography, road networks, traffic patterns, and potential transportation obstacles.
- **Manual Planning Skills**: Proficiency in manually creating routes and schedules without relying on planning software, showcasing your ability to think critically and strategically.
- **Analytical Thinking**: Capacity to analyse data, identify patterns, and make informed decisions to optimize delivery operations.
- **Communication**: Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with drivers, colleagues, and clients, ensuring smooth information flow and problem resolution.
- **Time Management**: Efficient time management skills to meet tight delivery deadlines while managing unexpected disruptions.
- **Problem Solving**: A proactive problem-solving attitude to address challenges on the go and maintain seamless operations.
- **Flexibility**: Adaptability to changing circumstances, such as new delivery requests, road closures, or weather conditions.
- **Team Player**: Collaborative mindset to work closely with drivers, dispatchers, and other teams to achieve common goals.
- **Organizational Skills**: Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks, keeping track of various routes, schedules, and updates simultaneously.
- **Experience**: Previous experience in transport planning, logistics, or a related field is preferred, but not mandatory.
**(Transport Planner) - Position Remuneration**
- Salary: £28,000.00 - £34,000.00 (Dependant on experience)
- Car Allowance: Circa £3,000.00
- Working Hours: Monday - Friday 08:00 - 17:00
- Out of hours rotational weekend and evening cover by phone (1 week in 4)
- Pension
- On site parking
- 28 days holiday including bank holidays.
**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
**Salary**: £28,000.00-£34,000.00 per year
