To provide a supportive role within the Haematology Outpatient Department for nursing and supportive duties, assisting in the delivery of care to patients and relatives providing excellent customer service. This will incorporate organising the clinics, housekeeping, stocking up, maintenance of equipment, chaperoning Doctors and senior nurses. You will also assist in bone marrow biopsy clinics.

An opportunity has arisen for 2 Band 2 CSW’s to join our Haematology Outpatients Team. Haematology Outpatients includes service users undergoing diagnostic testing, receiving diagnostic test results, giving advice or providing care and treatment without being admitted as an inpatient.
- To run clinics under supervision of a nurse in charge.
- All equipment is cleared away at the end of clinic and rooms cleaned restocked as required.
- Patients and their relatives are communicated with and manage their waits in the waiting areas.
- Complete audits.
- To assist doctors Specialist Nurses with examination procedures.
- Work closely chaperoning Consultants and Doctors
- Maintain safety of patients having procedures
- Complete patient observations
- Maintain Governance with Health Records
- Be responsible for ensuring specimens are processed correctly

Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust is an integrated Trust and the only provider of NHS acute care in Walsall, serving a population of 286,700, providing inpatient and outpatient services at the Manor Hospital as well as a wide range of services in the community. Walsall Manor Hospital houses the full range of district general hospital services under one roof. The £170 million development of our Pleck Road site was completed in 2010 and the continued upgrading of existing areas ensures the Trust now has a state-of-the-art Critical Care Unit, Neonatal Unit, Obstetric Theatre, and Integrated Assessment Unit facilities. Work is also well underway on its multi-million pound new Urgent and Emergency Care Centre which will house a new Emergency Department (including Children’s Emergency Department), co-located Paediatric Assessment Unit, Acute Medical Unit and Urgent Care Centre. This is scheduled for completion this year.

We provide high quality, friendly and effective community health services from some 60 sites including Health Centres and GP surgeries. Covering Walsall and beyond, our multidisciplinary services include rapid response in the community and home-based care, so that those with long-term conditions and the frail and elderly, can remain in their own homes to be cared for wherever appropriate.
- Keep the store rooms and utility rooms stocked up and tidy.
- To escalate immediately to the nurse in charge any concerns whilst on duty.
- To be aware and observe fully the employees duties under the Health and Safety at Work Act and to observe all the Trust’s policies relating to Health and Safety and Risk Management.
- To have responsibility for ensuring you are committed to maintaining a high quality of service to patients by continual development of practice in the light of research evidence and by audit against clinically relevant standards.
- To adhere to the Trust’s polices and team commitments to staff and patients.
