**Role Summary**

As a member of Wintercomfort’s Project Worker Team, reporting to the Services Manager, the Digital Skills Adviser is responsible for delivering Wintercomfort’s specialist digital skills advice, advocacy and representation, empowering service users to move out of the spiral of homelessness and back into mainstream society.

**Key Responsibilities**
- To provide telephone and face to face advice to service users who have digital skills issues to a high standard of advice and casework.
- Offer a range of digital learning opportunities, training programmes, work experience and help to access paid employment.
- Advising services users how to use digital devices and motivate them to become digitally empowered instead of digitally excluded.
- Advising service users how to gain essential digital skills so that they can access mainstream financial services and other services online.
- Advise on using technology to set up e mail address, join a Zoom or Teams meeting, use platforms such as WhatsApp and set up online banking.
- Support service users to attend digital 121 sessions with an option to attend regular group technology & digital skills training sessions to develop confidence, knowledge and basic technology skills.
- Motivate service users to gain increased digital literacy and skills to access digital infrastructure and platforms.
- To keep up to date with all relevant trainings opportunities, policy, and good practice.
- To refer service users to other services within Wintercomfort and external organisations where appropriate.
- To ensure that accurate records are kept documenting the support services provided to Wintercomfort’s service users. Ensuring that record keeping meets the requirements of internal and external monitoring of outcomes, assisting with reports and case studies to funders.

**Person Specification**

**Essential Experience**
- At least 3 years’ experience of advising people face-to-face on digital skills issues and training.
- Experience of negotiating with third parties over the telephone.
- Good knowledge of the opportunities for digital skill enhancement.
- A good working knowledge of IT policy and good practice.
- Experience of supporting vulnerable people with complex support needs to make positive changes in their lives.

**Desirable Experience**
- Knowledge of local services for homeless and vulnerably housed people.
- Dealing with people who experience poor mental health.

**Essential Skills**
- Effective IT skills, experience of training and developing staff IT capability
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong co-ordination and organisational skills.
- A constructive, flexible, and positive approach towards working with vulnerable, excluded people.

**Desirable Skills**
- Willingness and ability to work flexible hours including weekends as and when needed.

**Essential Qualifications**
- Minimum level 2 qualification in digital skills advice

Wintercomfort works with people who are homeless, at risk of homelessness or with a history of homelessness. We provide services to aid every stage of recovery - from immediate basic welfare needs to long term help in identifying and dealing with the problems which are undermining their stability, and enabling them to engage with education, employment and specialist health services. National statistics rank the numbers of rough sleepers in Cambridge within the highest 20 UK local authorities.
