A Science Communicator brings STEM alive through the engaging and passionate delivery of prepared content (i._e., _exhibits and drop-in activities) to young people and their families/carers, and to provide a relevant experience to which people can relate by responding to audience attitudes and questions. Weekend Science Communicators will work with CSC’s full-time Science Communicators to set-up and deliver in Cambridge and beyond.

**DUTIES**
- Work with the CSC Science Communicators to run days at our pop-up science centres
- Explain the STEM behind the exhibits and run drop-in activities in a lively, fun and engaging manner to their intended audiences
- Safe set-up and -down of equipment and running of an event in line with standard procedures and guidelines
- Support a positive team and organisation environment by being considerate and respectful to others
- Provide a high-quality visitor experience to all audiences
- Gather and provide feedback as required by our Evaluation programme
- General reporting and action to ensure the equipment is maintained
- Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe work areas

**REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS**
- Excellent communication skills
- A passion for supporting young people and the adults in their lives
- A passion for science, technology, engineering and maths
- Strong teamwork skills, allowing you to work integrate quickly with our team
- Be an advocate for accessibility
- Achieve a satisfactory enhanced DBS check
- It would be advantageous if you can also bring the following to the role:_
- Experience in science communications or of working with families, adults and children
- Customer service skills and experience

**Details**:

- Transport to any venues outside of Cambridge will be provided and is included within a day's hours.
- Additional, week-day shifts may be available and will be discussed on a case-by-case basis
- A day is 8 hours (including breaks)
- Each day will be a minimum of one CSC Science Communicator and one Weekend Science Communicator
- Online and in-person training is provided
- A uniform polo shirt is provided

**RECRUITMENT PROCESS AND TIMELINE**:

- In-person and online interviews are available
- We will ask you about:

- What should you consider when speaking to different age groups (e.g., 7-11- year olds, parents/carers, etc.)
- Creating a welcoming environment

**Interviews will be held on a rolling basis. Must be 18 years or over.**

**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent
Part-time hours: 7.5-15 per week

**Salary**: £10.00-£15.00 per hour
