A bit about the role
The Junior Fashion Copywriter is expected to write engaging and informative product copy, which is precise, consistent and in line with our brand tone of voice. They will receive feedback and edits daily and have a thirst to develop and grow as a Junior Copywriter within the team. Predominantly working within the Womenswear fashion division, this individual will also be required to turn their hand to all categories, including everything from childrenswear to home, beauty, food, and technology.

Supporting the Senior Copywriter and Content Management team, the Junior Copywriter is expected to maintain a consistent and clean website, ensuring all communications are brand-enhancing and consumer-focused. Working alongside and collaboratively with wider business teams and stakeholders is an essential part of this role, so good communication and an ability to react to requests are necessary. An ability to work to tight deadlines within a very fast-paced environment are a must.

This role will suit someone who has a real interest in the power of words, who is well-versed in all things fashion, and who wants to work on a varied range of projects.

A meticulous eye for detail and a strong understanding of grammar and punctuation are necessities, along with an ability to manage a big workload. The nature of the role involves communication, so a confident, approachable, and considerate character is an essential. Role Responsibility
- Write up to 40 product descriptions a day across all departments, including Womenswear, Menswear, Home, Tech, Beauty, Food, Kids, Jewellery & Watches
- Produce engaging, informative, and accurate copy in line with the Selfridges tone of voice and house style guides
- Take on edits and direction from your line manager, daily, while keeping on top of daily workload and other ad-hoc requests
- Conduct thorough brand and product research to inform your copy whilst working independently, delivering copy at pace to strict deadlines
- Manage your own workload, juggling researching brands/products with writing and uploading copy to meet strict deadlines while liaising daily with multiple teams on product workflow
- Liaise daily with the other teams on product workflow and brand information
- Conduct daily site walks to maintain quality and consistency
- Respond to ad-hoc copy requests/queries from your line manager
- Keep abreast of seasonal fashion trends and maintain good brand knowledge
- Work collaboratively with the rest of the Content team to continuously optimise and improve our product copy, always aiming to inform with creative and original product descriptions

A bit about you
- Educated to degree level or equivalent in an English, Journalism discipline
- Experience in a Fashion Journalism/Copywriting/Content role (may include relevant internships)
- Microsoft word, PowerPoint, CMS experience
- Digital/Online retail knowledge
- Knowledge of digital production process

Desired Skills:

- Strong awareness of fashion, lifestyle, culture, and in-depth brand knowledge
- Knowledge of SEO best practices
- Experience using a CMS platform
- PC literate in Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Excel
- Content experience in an e-commerce or fashion brand
