Cancerwise is an independent cancer support charity based in Chichester. Established in 1983, we have 36 years of experience supporting the health & wellbeing of individuals (adults) throughout West Sussex and South East Hampshire who are affected by cancer. A team of counsellors together with a range of complementary therapists provide space to support the mind, body, spirit and emotional health of clients through and beyond cancer.
**Job purpose**
We are looking for qualified and experienced Counsellor for a Thursday morning, who will assess newly referred clients and provide counselling support to clients with cancer, their family members and the bereaved. The post is offered on a self-employed basis and reimbursement of sessions worked will be made on submission of a monthly invoice.
**Principal duties and responsibilities**
- Provide a skilled psychological assessment of the needs of clients
- Provide weekly one-to-one counselling sessions of 50 minutes duration, for between 3 client sessions per week on a Thursday morning.
- Face to face - Cancerwise Support Centre, Dukes Court, Bognor Road, Chichester PO19 8FX.
- Face to face, telephone and video conference call as required.
- Work collaboratively with other members of the Cancerwise team to ensure provision of an efficient counselling service.
- Keep brief notes of the content of each client session.
- Keep all client notes and records safely in accordance with GDPR guidelines.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Maintain regular group supervision.
- Ensure immediate contact is made with the Supervisor between supervision should concerns are raised with client or self.
- Attend therapist meetings when requested
- Provide the Operations Manager with an accurate and timely monthly invoice for payment of sessions carried out.
- Comply with BACP guidelines and undertake at least 30 hours of CPD per annum and record the CPD in line with the BACP Register requirements.
- To allow a smooth transition of clients at the end of the contract a notice period of at least 2 months is required.
- Carry out any other activity that may reasonably be requested by any member of the Cancerwise administration and management teams, drawing on broader skills and knowledge.
- Participate in the development, and expansion, of the service
**Job Types**: Part-time, Freelance
Part-time hours: 3 per week
**Salary**: £20.00 per hour
