Waking Night Support Worker

1. To assist in the smooth running of the home, being part of a multidisciplinary team promoting a warm, caring, safe and enjoyable environment.
2. To have responsibility for safeguarding and promoting individual rights, providing good quality care which is free from oppression and where differences are respected and valued.
3. To assist in providing a safe, structured, caring environment for young people, by helping to settle them at night and supervising them during the night.
4.To ensure domestic standards such as cooking, cleaning, washing up, loading the dishwasher and similar are set and monitored in such a fashion as to set a good example to the children.
5. Maintain a clean and safe environment; ensure that the physical state of the building is maintained to a high standard and that all repair/maintenance problems are reported promptly.
5. To manage challenging behaviours safety, in a way that protects and maintains the rights of the young people.
6. To maintain accurate and up to date records of e.g. residents, callers, etc. and produce written reports to adhere to Lavender Grove Cares Policies and Procedures with particular note to Safeguarding, Whistle
- blowing, Complaints, Equality and Diversity.
7. Promote and actively encourage the delivery of a safe, structured and nurturing environment, promoting the young person’s independence and developing their life skills.
8. To assist and supervise in the continual assessment of the needs of the children and young people and to identify and prepare specific development plans to ensure the most appropriate service provision.
9. To contribute to the development of appropriate relationships with and between staff, young people and other stakeholders.
10. To engage in the implementation of additional techniques and practices supporting improvements in child-care.
11. Encourage positive development of each Child/ Young Person’s interests and attitudes.
12. To promote, safeguard and protect the welfare of each Child and Young Person.
13. Establish and maintain positive and trusting relationships with the Young People that will promote their sense of security.
14. Provide firm, consistent and fair boundaries in respect of their behaviour and employ appropriate and agreed sanctions.
15. Ensure that appropriate medical help is provided in line with individual care plans/ cases of illness and accidents.
16. Promote the development of an emotionally and physically healthy lifestyle for Children and Young People.
17. Assist Young People in the development and sustaining of positive social networks with adults and other peer groups.
18. To participate in group activities and group holidays if suitable.
19. To assist in the provision/preparation of meals in the home.
20. To assist and support our Young People through the process of leaving care.
21. Encourage our young people to develop their full educational and vocational attainment.
22. Observe and assess the behaviour of our Young People in our home, using formal and informal keywork sessions to aid positive self-worth and identity.
23. To engage in and supervise night-time care practices, creating an accepting environment conducive to the positive personal development of each Young Person.
