**Job Description**:
As our new Market Risk Specialist you’ll be responsible for ensuring the potential risks to the Society’s balance sheet resulting from movements in interest rates and other market indices are understood and managed by the business.

This is a pivotal role which involves analysing and reporting on market and interest rate risks to make sure we are in line with the wider objectives of our corporate plan whilst ensuring we remain within the Board’s risk appetite.

Main Responsibilities

You’ll assist in collating our monthly Asset and Liability Committee pack, providing insight and challenge on evolving interest rate and market risks facing the Society. Alongside this, you’ll use data analytics to understand and model changing customer behaviours to quantify the potential impact of these risks so that they can be understand and mitigated where appropriate.

You’ll also be responsible for producing and submitting market risk related regulatory returns. Supporting the Market Risk manager in the development of other team members and contributing ideas for the longer term strategic direction of the team.

You’ll need experience developing Excel spreadsheet models to perform detailed levels of analysis on data sets, as well as developing QRM models for stress-testing and risk reporting purposes. It’s important for you to have an understanding of evolving interest rate risk and market risk regulation and how these risks can be managed and measured.

The key competencies for this role are:
Ability to understand and quantify risks

Proven ability to develop models within Excel

Able to communicate key information to stakeholders at all levels

Ability to work on your own with minimum supervision, but also as part of a team to achieve results in a timely manner

Experience planning and organising own work to ensure a focus on team priorities
