**Job summary**:
The Clinical Standards Officer is a key role within the Clinical Governance and Patient Safety department ensuring the Trusts clinical services are compliant with NICE guidance. The post holder will also facilitate the Trusts process for National Confidential Enquiry into Patient Outcome and Death (NCEPOD) ensuring services are participating in studies and that recommendations are reviewed and where applicable, implemented.

The position sits within the Clinical Compliance team and feeds into the wider compliance framework that is used to monitor the Trusts compliance with various statutory and regulatory requirements. The role is wide ranging and covers a vast amount of clinical services across all UHB sites. The post holder will be expected to proactively engage with staff at various levels and by various means in order to achieve the objectives therefore the ability to build rapport with others is key.

The role will be based at Queen Elizabeth Hospital with the opportunity for some home-working. The post holder may also be required to travel to other UHB sites if required.

**Main duties, tasks & skills required**:
The post holder will facilitate the Trusts process for NICE guidance and National Confidential Enquiry into Patient Outcome and Death (NCEPOD) and will contribute to a number of reports to inform the Trusts senior management of compliance with clinical standards. Experience or understanding of NICE and NCEPOD is desirable however not essential.

The post holder will be expected to prioritise their workload, interpret guidance and use their own initiative to achieve expected work tasks and outcomes. They will be expected to work within agreed deadlines, undertake regular data processing and contribute to a high number of internal reports.

The post holder will need excellent computer skills and be able to utilise various systems. They will need to be extremely organised, pay attention to detail and have good written and communication skills.

The post holder will also be required to support the Clinical Compliance team with other work priorities, including data input and supporting with CQC inspections.
