The Governors are looking for a dependable, enthusiastic and experienced caretaker to join our caretaking, cleaning and grounds maintenance team at Boroughbridge Primary school and Nursery. You will share the role of caretaking with our current caretaker and you will be the be the main out of hours contact and available for emergency call-outs, addressing urgent issues promptly.

This role will suite someone who has a passion for protecting and maintaining a safe school environment and improving the development of the school.

This role is offered on a full year contract; this has the added benefit of being able to discuss and agree a time that is best suited for you and school to take annual leave. We are also able to offer some flexibility around the times that you will work each day.

**Key responsibilities**:

- Understanding of Health and Safety Regulations and undergo any Health and Safety training identified by the school.
- Be the main out of hours contact and available for emergency call-outs, addressing urgent issues promptly.
- Responsible for ensuring the building and site are safe and secure at all times
- Locking and unlocking of buildings at pre-determined times ensuring security and safety protocols are followed.
- Ensure outside areas are safe / clean, kept free from litter, debris, leaves and that there is safe access to the building during adverse weather conditions e.g. snow.
- To monitor the heating system and report any faults to the SBM.
- Receive deliveries to the site and undertakes general portering duties whilst on site to include moving furniture & equipment on site.
- Carry out various daily, weekly, monthly and annual health and safety checks.
- To support the maintenance of the building by amongst other duties:

- Checking and replacing light fittings
- Undertaking minor repairs and upkeep of facilities of a range of equipment and buildings
- Painting and decorating
- To assist with cleaning duties not covered by cleaners
- Collect and assemble waste for collection
- Ensures the buildings are safe by identifying any hazards and reporting them
- Ability to read and write and to work alone and/or within a team.
- Show commitment to continuous school improvement.
