**The Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as we recruit for an Assistant Caretaker (Security) to provide a positive and

friendly security service throughout the College.

basis. This will be an additional role to support the growth of student numbers at the College.

**Start Date**: As soon as possible

**Hours**: 37.5 hours per week, full-time (52 weeks per year), plus half an hour unpaid lunch break.
Working day will be 8am to 5pm (with a one hour lunch break and 2 x 15 min breaks).

**Salary**: £26,498 per annum, inclusive of fringe allowance.

**Holidays**: 22 days’ holiday, plus 2 additional statutory days per year.

**Job Description
**Post Title: Assistant Caretaker (Security)**
**Responsible To: Head Caretaker
**Job Purpose: The primary purpose is to provide a positive and friendly security service throughout the**
**College so as to minimise risks to the health and safety of those using the College site.**

**The secondary purpose is to assist with caretaking duties.**

**Responsibilities**:
**1. Security**
- To be a security presence in the College throughout the day by conducting routine patrols in order to maintain

safety, prevent trespass and the parking of unauthorised vehicles within the College.
The priority task must be the safety of all personnel and students on site.
- To monitor car-parks and gates during busy periods and monitor the use of car park permits whilst using discretion
- To conduct ongoing monitoring of student activities within the College campus in particular with regard to

maintaining the quality of the College environment by:
o Carrying out daily ID Lanyard checks, at the start and during the College day
- Maintaining positive student behaviour
- Restricting smoking/vaping to the designated area
- To assist with capture of recorded data and CCTV images of security and car park incidents.
- To assist with operating fire and burglar alarm systems, hold key holder responsibilities which will include any

callouts requiring attendance during the caretaker’s holiday or sick absences.
- Assist with security and car parking duties for events such as Open Evenings and Parents Evenings and other college

events.**2. Maintenance
- To assist with maintenance tasks as directed by the Head Caretaker, for example:

- Decoration
- Joinery
- Carpet tiling - laying or refurbishing
- Plumbing - un-blocking sinks, toilets, waste pipes, adjustment of taps.
- General DIY tasks and repairs
- To assist with keeping the College safe, clean and tidy e.g. fire alarm testing, emergency cleaning, litter clearance,

and snow clearance.
- To assist with ‘Goods Inwards’ ensuring safe access and unloading, checking and signing for goods delivered and

maintaining security until in possession of appropriate person.
- To assist with the movement of furniture and equipment around the College as required for pre-planned events,

including exams set up. Lifting is often required.
**3. Other Duties:
- To undertake any other reasonable duties delegated by the Head Caretaker.
- To take part in the first aider duty rota (training will be given if not already qualified to be a first aider at work)

responding to first aid requests when on rota).
- Use personnel protective equipment as required and any other safety equipment issued, whilst on duty
- To carry out all tasks in such a way that they, as far as possible, do not hinder, and if possible, aid teaching and

learning within the College.
- To act at all times in accordance with the College's Equality & Diversity policies.
- To act at all times in accordance with the College's Safeguarding policy. Ensuring the safeguarding of students at

the College, recognising one’s own role in liaison with the designated safeguarding team.
- To contribute to the safety policies of the College as directed by the Principal and to ensure that Health & Safety

Regulations are observed within the Curriculum Areas and within the College in general.
- To take part in the training programmes provided by the College and agree to the process of professional reviews.
- To undertake any other particular duties, which may be reasonably assigned to you by the Principal, from time to
