If so then this is the role for you We’re looking for a **Home Affairs Correspondent** who can work across Kent, Sussex and Surrey, delivering stories and investigations for our audiences.

**Main Responsibilities**:

- You’ll work as a self-scheduling Home Affairs Correspondent, delivering multiplatform stories that have real impact.
- You won’t be happy unless your stories and investigations lead the BBC News website, get on the Six and Ten main BBC news bulletins and are followed up by the national media, as well as making stories on our platforms across the South East.
- You’ll be part of a multi-skilled team, developing content for TV, radio and digital.
- You’ll need a strong understanding of how to make a story come to life and you’ll need to understand who our audience are and what matters to them.
- You’ll work as part of a team based in Tunbridge Wells and will work with our team across Brighton and Guildford, creating content for audiences across the South East.
- You’ll work alongside our investigations team and will be happy juggling on-the-day big stories with longer-term stories and investigations, constantly looking and coming up with ideas.
- You’ll have a proven track record of working in journalism and production and have a showreel full of original stories and investigations.
- If you have a passion for telling stories with the ability to look at issues and investigations from a diversity of perspectives, and you’re bursting with creative ideas, we want to hear from you
- As a very experienced journalist, you’ll have vast experience of working in newsrooms, with experience of working across online, TV and radio.
- You’ll have a showreel full of original stories and investigations and be brimming with ideas for more stories you want to get your teeth into. When we ask you to outline the investigations and original stories you’ve worked on, you’ll struggle to narrow it down to just one example as there will be so many.
- You’ll have developed an excellent network of contacts in previous roles and will be determined to repeat this across Kent, Sussex and Surrey.
- You’ll be able to demonstrate a track record of strong editorial judgement which can be used across all aspects of what we do.
- You will be a self-starter, able to work well on your own and as part of a bigger team.
- You’ll be brilliant at time management and you’ll know how to get the best out of your colleagues as part of a team.
- In addition, you’ll have a thorough knowledge of the BBC’s editorial guidelines, our need for impartiality and a detailed knowledge of law.
