Emotional Wellbeing and Mental Health Lead

We are excited to advertise for a new Emotional Wellbeing and Mental Health Lead role in our School Health Service. The postholder will work as part of the School Health Service to deliver an expanded mental health offer. You will be innovative and have a passion for improving children and young people's emotional wellbeing and mental health. You will enjoy working in school settings and beyond into the community, and will be skilled at partnership working and building relationships. You will be able to work with a range of clinical and non clinical staff both in the service, in schools and across into other settings. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the direction and delivery of this work, at a time when children and young people's emotional wellbeing and mental health has never been more important.

Work as part of the School Health Service. Champion emotional health, wellbeing and resilience through coordination and delivery of universal activities / targeted activities with CYP with / without mental health and emotional difficulties. Liaise with Local Authority / CAMHS services as appropriate and make informed onward referrals /support others in the team to do so.
Work with staff in the School Health Service, school staff, directly with CYP to develop opportunities / skills to build resilience, relationships and self-help strategies, and to promote the importance of physical activity in relation to emotional health and wellbeing. Run group sessions on particular topics and via drop-ins where YP will be provided with an opportunity to share / reflect on concerns.
Accountable for emotional health promotion activities; developing resilience / reducing risks, some direct work with some pupils, supported by the MDT. Work jointly with other members of the Team offering generic /more specialist advice, consultation and training.
Work alongside staff, developing networks within the Borough relating to GP practices, education providers, Local Authority children’s services, Youth Offending Services, substance misuse agencies, Family Hubs and voluntary sector organisations, in order to better meet the emotional health needs of CYP and families in line with the iThrive model.

The BiBorough School Health Service is a universal service working with children and young people in schools. The service is comprised of school nurses, staff nurses, technicians, administrators and specialist roles. The service has a wide remit and is highly valued across both boroughs for our work.
Maintain an overview of all the emotional and mental health and wellbeing activities delivered by the School Health Service into schools, and have oversight of wider partnership provision in schools (delivered by other partners/VCS) to avoid duplication and strengthen collaboration.
To develop and maintain an emotional and mental health and wellbeing pack that team members can use in partnership with other key resources in schools, such as Healthy Schools Partnership.
To identify training needs for the wider team, and train all of the team to identify issues relating to emotional and mental health and wellbeing in order to support children and young people to be well, healthy and happy.
To deliver regular, high quality mental health supervision to the team, to staff at all levels.
To develop the capability of the schools and wider workforce to provide initial assessment, and early detection of mental health problems and appropriate early referral.
Design, implement and quality assure mental health sessions to be delivered into schools. Coordinate the delivery of these sessions into schools and support the wider team, including the RSHE Team, with this delivery. Deliver sessions directly in schools working in coordination with other providers including CNWL CAMHS.
Support team members to develop the skills to enable schools to take a whole-school approach to emotional and mental health and wellbeing, including identifying and sourcing appropriate training for the school population.
