You will work alongside the Podiatric Surgery Consultant in managing the care of patients including clinical examination, treatments, imaging, theatre support, advanced local anesthesia and post operative dressing and review.

The service in Luton and Bedford is provided from the Luton area with operating facilities in Milton Keynes As such there will be a need to work across these locations where required.

The Podiatric Surgery Service provided by EPUT covers the provision of Podiatric foot surgery over South Essex, West Essex and Bedford, each areas.

As a small service the team work cohesively in a supportive environment working together to improve the foot heath of patients in Essex and Bedford. The service and trust support staff by offering ongoing supervision, appraisal and access to training opportunities as part of ones development journey and career pathway.

The Service has dedicated administrative team members who work closely with the clinicians to organised and support the clinical function.

The post offers a role that is supported by the senior clinical team and offers an opportunity to gain at work training providing the following duties:
Post Operative Dressing

Operating Theatre support

Clinical examination, history taking and planning treatment with the consultant

Intra-articular Injection therapy where required

Advanced Local anesthesia

Here at EPUT we maintain our own bank of specialist staff to ensure that we are able offer safe and effective care at all times.

To provide highly specialised Podiatric Surgical assistance to the Consultant Podiatric Surgeons within Essex Community Services, based on and utilising additional competencies and knowledge gained through post graduate development and on the job training.

Working as an integral member of the podiatric surgical team, the post holder will exercise judgement in using the most appropriate skills and techniques to improve and maintain the quality of life for patients with foot problems, which can be addressed surgically.

In addition, the post holder may act as appoint of contact for the surgical service with members of the public and other healthcare professionals, being comfortable and confident in their dealings with all hospital staff.
