**Job Introduction**:
The Transformation Office is at the heart of the BBC’s change and is accountable for prioritising, driving and overseeing all critical projects and corporate level change initiatives across the BBC. It manages a critical project portfolio which, together with other identified strategic change projects, will deliver transformation for the BBC and guarantee the long term future of the corporation. One of these key initiatives is the Future BBC Programme.
The **Portfolio Planner **role sits within the Transformation Office and works closely with some of the most senior colleagues across the organisation to plan, manage and support some of our most critical and exciting projects and programmes. You will be partnering with colleagues right across the organisation, but especially within the key content divisions of Content, News and Nations as well as across the Chief Operating Officer (COO) Group.
**Main Responsibilities**:
As **Portfolio Planner**, you will be primarily responsible for leading the development and monitoring of the BBC Portfolio Implementation Plan. You will also lead on engaging with the relevant stakeholders for planning purposes and work on driving forward future development of the plan and wider planning strategy.
**Key Responsibilities include**:
- Lead management and monitoring of the Portfolio Plan for the key programmes and projects across the BBC - updating key senior leaders and governance boards on the roadmap, ensuring timely delivery and accuracy of information;
- Produce regular variations of the plan to enable scenario planning and to inform decision-making for senior boards;
- Lead and facilitate planning workshops and other engagements to gain in-depth understanding of the overall plan and constituent parts, enabling you to explain and communicate complex issues to non-specialists verbally and in writing;
- Analyse and update the plan through regular sessions with various existing and emerging programmes and enabling functions to ensure it is credible and viable;
- Work closely with the Strategy and Transformation teams to link key portfolio milestones to benefits profiles and capture and manage risks, issues and all this information is regularly and accurately reported;
- Collaborate and support programmes in the development of their plans and data to enable consistent planning best practice across the portfolio as a whole.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Formal qualifications in project / programme / portfolio management, for example, Prince 2, APM, Managing Successful Programmes, Management of Portfolios.
- Strong skills in analysing data and presenting large volumes of qualitative and quantitative information in a concise and meaningful way that supports decision-making.
- Proven capability in building and maintaining productive stakeholder relationships with a wide range of people, inside and outside the organisation.
- Ability to balance long-term strategic priorities against short-term demands, including the ability to work independently, take responsibility for areas of work and manage competing priorities, often in a pressured environment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential with the ability to adapt style and tone for different audiences (including senior leaders).

Band: E
Contract type: Nine month fixed term contract with potential to extend - this is a staff role not interim/contractor
Location: Role can be based in any of the main hubs - e.g. London, Salford, Birmingham, Cardiff and Glasgow with some hybrid working
Job Title: in house title is Portfolio Manager
**Salary**: £65,000 to £75,000pa (plus London Weighting if London based), depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.
