Head of Clinical Operations

**Responsibilities**:
- Operational execution of global clinical trial portfolio in US, Europe and Asia, delivered through a team of Clinical Project Managers and support teams working with internal teams and external vendors.
- Ensure that clinical trials are conducted in compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and are inspection ready.
- Monitor the progress of projects and provide senior management and program teams with timely updates, changes in scope, budget and resource requirements across the clinical trials portfolio.
- Communicate complex messages and negotiate with others to adopt a different point of view. Influence peers to take action and may negotiate with external partners, vendors, or customers.
- Line manager of direct reports including team leaders that are experts in their discipline.
- Serve as mentor and coach to team members. Manage and assess the performance of direct reports.
- Plan clinical headcount and hiring needs to meet program workload demands.
- Align business and clinical operations objectives across multiple project teams.
- Develop talent within the function to enable career development through relevant training and on the job experience. Has the ability to attract and retain talent.
- Interpret internal and external business challenges. Recommend best practices and utilise Lean methodology and problem solving to improve products, processes or services. Utilize understanding of industry trends to inform decision making process.
- Participate in Risk Management activities and lesson learnt sessions.
- Use lean practices, lessons learnt and external input to ensure the clinical operations team are set up for success to ensure the successful management, conduct and completion of clinical study programs.
- Assist in the development and implementation of processes required to ensure consistent adherence to best practices in the planning and execution of clinical trials, ranging from study startup and planning, forecasting of timelines, feasibility, recruitment, tracking, analysis and reporting.
- Work across the organization to ensure transparency and alignment of objectives and ensures transparent reporting of clinical trial progress.
- Work closely with the internal compliance team to ensure that Standard Operating Procedures, Corporate Policies, Guidelines and internal standards covering clinical activities are appropriate and optimized.
- Ensure effective oversight and management of external service providers across all clinical trials and ensure that governance charters are in place with key vendors.
- Work closely with the sourcing group to ensure the external vendor panel is appropriate for current needs and assist in the identification of new vendors where needed. They will work with the Clinical Operations team to ensure key KPIs are met by the vendors and assist with issue escalation and management where needed.
- Assist in the RFP process for clinical trials to ensure suggested operational activities are appropriate for the required project.
