**Job summary**

They have an exciting opportunity for the role of Security Adviser (Physical Security) as part of the Data & Register Integrity Group, Security & Resilience Team (SRT). Within this role, you will be responsible for delivering an effective risk-based approachto our clients physical security requirements. As physical security Subject Matter Expert (SME) you will have input into incident management, personnel security, third party supplier assurance, information security, education and awareness and Business Continuity.

**Job description**

A key aspect of the role is to establish and maintain the appropriate physical security posture for them, providing the Head of Protective Security with assurance of the effectiveness of these controls and provide recommendations where additional actionswill support assurance activities. You will be responsible for providing advice and guidance to them covering all aspects of physical security, including the management of physical security risks and maintenance of standards.

Fundamental to this role is the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with the senior leadership of theirs, the shared-service providers responsible for the provision of their establishment security services, the National TechnicalAuthorities, the Cabinet Office, Government Property Agency (GPA) and their parent Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS).

You will champion security as an enabler for them to conduct business safely and securely, driving engagement with colleagues at all levels throughout the organisation to achieve effective dialogue on security and support the continuous improvement processesfor physical security controls. As part of your role, you will develop and deliver an independent Physical Security assurance framework covering physical security of all their non cyber assets, reporting to the Head of Protective Security on the effectivenessand maturity of their physical security, identifying key risk areas and improvement opportunities.

Where an individual taking up the responsibility will be based in Swansea Office, the ability to speak Welsh is desirable.

This role will require a Security Check to either be transferred to them or completed within 6 months of appointment. This will include meeting the UK minimum residency requirement of 5 years.

**Person specification**

To be successful in this role, you will hold CPNI or other specialist training including Physical Security, Personnel Security, Operational Requirements, Hostile Vehicle Mitigation, CCTV, Guarding and Defence in Depth methodology. You also have a good understandingof security controls (technical, procedural, personnel and physical).

You will have previous experience and knowledge of operational risk and risk control frameworks and an understanding of Information security management systems and risk assessment methodologies or demonstrable equivalent experience. Previous experience ineither Protective Security or Security Assurance is essential, in addition to a good working knowledge/understanding of risk management.
