We have an exciting opportunity to join our Surgical Waiting List team working on the Warrington Hospital site.

The successful applicant will need to have a keen eye for detail and have excellent communication and organisational skills.

The waiting list team’s primary role is to manage patients on a surgical waiting list for both Adults and Children who are waiting for elective surgery. This involves dating patients in priority and chronological order in line with the Trust Patient Access Policy.

The post holder will provide high level administrative support to the waiting list process, working within the scope of the Trust Patient Access Policy ensuring admissions are processed effectively and that national and local access targets are met. Working closely with patients and their families, and the medical and nursing teams to ensure patients are booked for surgery in line with waiting time targets. This involves undertaking regular administrative validation of the waiting list, ensuring patients are fit for surgery by completion of pre-assessment checks, and organising equipment with internal & external departments.

Manage Multiple Consultants Waiting Lists of different Surgical Specialties in accordance with Trust Waiting List Policies. Ensuring patients are dated for elective surgery in order of priority using waiting list reports generated by the waiting list team. In conjunction with current National Guidelines in relation to patient treatment Times

Ensure patients are accurately inputted to the waiting list within a timely manner, retrieving and transferring data from ICE orders to Lorenzo ensuring that patient details and relevant clinical information is recorded.

Generate all relevant documentation for patients relating to any appointments and Tests, always confirming details of appointments ensuring details are accurate.

Managing elective admissions in accordance with clinical priority including complex patients and patients on a cancer pathway ensuring that they are seen within the appropriate timescales adhering to Patient Access guidelines.

Book and manage pre-operative assessments appointments in accordance with local guidelines and liaise closely with pre-operative assessment staff supporting the outcome of appointments. Record and retrieve vital clinical information on multiple IT systems to support patients’ admission for Elective surgery.

Undertake validation of the Surgical waiting lists and patient pathways on a regular basis in accordance with Trust policies and National Guidelines in relation to patient treatment Times.

Participate in frequent discussions regarding potential breach concerns with Consultants and CBU management team. Escalate individual patients who are likely to exceed waiting times targets to the attention of Consultants and the CBU Management teams.
