We're seeking a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant to champion the Gatsby Good Careers Benchmarks within our school, ensuring our students are well-equipped for their educational, employment, or training journey.
Key Responsibilities: As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant - Future Pathways, you will have a pivotal role in shaping our student's futures. Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering appropriate careers guidance to students from Year 7 on-wards, collaborating with external advisors as needed.
- Partnering with The Careers and Enterprise Company to assess and improve our school's progress towards the Gatsby Benchmarks, utilising the Compass's tool.
- Taking the lead on the school's comprehensive careers program, reporting termly and annually to Governors.
- Facilitating student encounters with a diverse range of local and national employers.
- Designing and executing additional programs to prepare students for interviews, overcoming workplace challenges, and retaining their first roles.
- Maintaining a record of destination data for leavers over a 5-year period.
- Engaging parents in our holistic Careers program and organising an annual careers day/week.
- Collaborating with local employers to provide meaningful work experience placements.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Higher Level Teaching Assistant Diploma or equivalent Level 4 qualification, or demonstrate equivalent skill level.
- Minimum GCSE Maths and English Language qualification Grade 4 or equivalent.
- Career guidance Qualification recognised by the CDI (desirable).
- Knowledge of the Gatsby Good Careers Benchmarks and experience implementing them in a school setting.
- Familiarity with SEN, SLD/PMLD, ADHD, and ASD student needs and experiences.
- Understanding of Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures.
- Proficiency in managing various behaviour approaches, including challenging behaviours.
- Previous experience in a multicultural, inclusive setting.
- A commitment to student-centered approaches and individualised care.
- Positive and creative attitude towards meeting student's diverse needs.
- Strong collaborative and interpersonal skills.
- Competent ICT skills.
