**Job Description: Purchase Ledger Clerk**
**Location: North Tyneside**
**Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent**
**Salary: £24,000 per annum**
Job Overview:
Key Responsibilities:
- Process invoices and purchase orders accurately and efficiently, matching them with corresponding documentation and verifying details.
- Maintain the purchase ledger, ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Perform regular reconciliations of supplier accounts and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Liaise with internal departments and external suppliers to address any invoicing or payment-related queries.
- Prepare and process payment runs, ensuring timely and accurate payments to suppliers while managing cash flow effectively.
- Assist with month-end closing procedures, including accruals, prepayments, and other journal entries as required.
- Collaborate with the broader finance team to contribute to the overall accuracy and integrity of financial records.
- Keep track of supplier agreements, terms, and discounts, and ensure adherence to contractual obligations.
- Maintain organized filing systems for invoices, statements, and other financial documents.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives, suggesting ideas to streamline and optimize purchase ledger processes.
- Support the Finance Manager with ad hoc tasks and projects as needed.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Previous experience in a similar purchase ledger or accounts payable role is preferred.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles and practices.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
