**Main Areas of Responsibility**
The purpose of your role will be:

- To ensure the provision of an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for students studying in the department, in accordance with the aims of the academy and the curricular policies determined by the Governing Body and Principal.
- To facilitate and encourage a learning experience which provides students with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential.
- To effectively manage and deploy staff, financial and physical resources within the department.
- To share and support the school’s responsibility to provide and monitor opportunities for personal and academic growth.
- To meet Academy targets on attendance and behaviour.
- To line manage tutors and ensure regular phone-calls to students who are doing well/are cause for concern and that tutors are managing the attendance of students whose attendance is between 95% and 100%, including ensuring that attendance certificates and rewards are distributed weekly.
- To have direct responsibility for improving the attendance of any student whose attendance falls below requirements.
- To take responsibility for all students who are at negative boundary 2 to ensure poor behaviour does not continue to escalate.
- To support tutors.
- To ensure daily phone calls happen for any child who is transferred out of a lesson, and that appropriate support is put into place to ensure transfers across the year group reduce.
- To meet with Faculty Director each week to identify students who’s behaviour is a concern and evidence first line of support that is in place and its impact.
- To ensure agreed tutor programme is implemented and that tutors are effective in their role.
- To support ALG in monitoring student reports, including the DSL by attending/preparing TAC meetings or other Safeguarding meetings as appropriate.
- To train to at least Level 3 Safeguarding.

Your main areas of responsibility will fall under the areas of:

- Staff development (including recruiting, building and managing an effective team of motivated staff)
- Student outcomes (including ensuring the effective operation of target setting, monitoring and evaluation systems and the input and maintenance of accurate student data)
- Pastoral system (including being a form tutor to a selected group of students)
- Teaching, including acting as an outstanding role model

**Qualifications & Experience**
- Hold QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree, and, ideally, management training
- Demonstrate successful teaching of GCSE at good or better level
- Have experience of initiation and effective management of change
- Show evidence of raising achievement in present post and showing good value added for groups
- Knowledge of National curriculum requirements at KS3, KS4 and KS5
- Have good knowledge and understanding of current educational thinking
- Have good communication skills in speech and writing
- Display excellent organisational skills
- Be able to build and sustain professional standards and relationships with students
- Be able to contribute towards creating a safe and protective environment
- Understanding of the importance of having high expectations for all students, both of behaviour and academic achievement.
