Ashford, United Kingdom Glaucoma UK Full time

**Training and Engagement Officer, Wales**

**Main duties**
Work across the area of service to:
**1. ** **Provide support, training and awareness-raising activity which increases support for people with glaucoma**
- Work with local hospitals, sight sector organisations or other relevant parties to set up sustainable glaucoma support groups. Ideally, this will be aided by Glaucoma UK’s ready-made glaucoma support group toolkit to ensure the groups become self-sustaining. This will help more people living with glaucoma feel connected, reassured and informed about their glaucoma, to help them be proactive in their care.
- Set up, run and promote digital glaucoma support groups.
- Gather insight about communities affected by glaucoma, particularly in under-represented communities that are at higher risk of developing glaucoma-related sight loss.
- Deliver eye care professionals training to those working with people with glaucoma. This covers glaucoma, difficulty with eye drop adherence, potential solutions, eye drop dispensing aids and other treatments.
- Work to raise awareness, particularly in higher risk communities, to encourage regular eye tests, adherence to treatment and uptake of our services. This may include connecting with hospitals/eye clinics to attend clinics and introduce people with glaucoma to Glaucoma UK, encouraging the use of our information booklets and leaflets and giving talks about glaucoma and Glaucoma UK to high risk groups (aided by our support resources).
- Act as a point of contact for local organisations, working to support people living with glaucoma in the region and establish positive ongoing relationships.
- Use Glaucoma UK’s systems and social media to promote regional events to maximise take-up and participation, particularly among ‘at risk’ groups.

**2. Contribute to Glaucoma UK’s development and impact**
- Gather and record data which we can use to evaluate our services and contribute to their improvement, particularly about the ways in which the support groups and eye care professionals training are helping people living with glaucoma.
- Contribute to the development of Glaucoma UK as a learning organisation, by sharing local insight and implementing improvements with colleagues across Glaucoma UK.
- Support the work of other Glaucoma UK activities such as communications and fundraising, attending meetings and events or writing articles, using regional insight and links where appropriate.

The above is an outline of the responsibilities and duties of this role; it is not intended as an exhaustive list and may change from time to time to meet the changing needs of Glaucoma UK and our supporters. Any changes will be made in consultation with the post holder. Specialist glaucoma knowledge, whilst welcomed, is not essential and training will be given to support you in this role.
